Re: X-O Manowar Omnibus
Glad I saw this, as I was about to order a copy. Think I'll hold off for now. I can already read the comics at their regular size, so this doesn't offer me anything new. Kind of disappointed, as I really like their Deluxe Editions and the Q&W Omni.

The Grant Morrison episodes (3 in all, I think) were SO good. FMOB is at the top of my "read" pile as far as podcasts go.

Re: VALIANT MASTERS aka 90's VU HC editions discussion
I've been keeping my eye on these collections as I wouldn't mind replacing my single issues with hardcover collections, but not enough has been collected yet for me to take the plunge. Also, I have the same OCD issue Captain Craig has about the first 3 collections (and I never liked the re-coloring ...

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Fables TPB #18...liked it but seemed like filler rather than part of the actual Fables storyline
#19 ("Snow White") is better.
#18 ("Cubs in Toyland") was OK. It was pretty interesting since it had a rather morbid tone which doesn't appear until midway through the book.
Cubs in Toyland was ...

Re: How Many....
The last few months I've made a concerted effort to catch-up on my reading, so I'm going through 5 or 6 trades a week (25-30 issues). Usually, it'd be about that many in a month.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Read the first trade of the new Prophet series last night...some gloriously odd and inventive art, and the story...I can't decide if it is ACTUALLY epic, or just going for the trappings of epic. May be too early to tell.
Read Blacksad Volume 1 this past weekend - gorgeous art; the detail in some ...

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Read issues 1-10 of Cowboy Ninja Viking yesterday and loved it. Very funny and a great story too.
Other recent reads:
Uncanny Avengers 1-11 by Rick Remender...I haven't been a regular Marvel reader since around the time of the Mutant Massacre crossover, but I jump back in from time to time. I ...

Doing some catch-up reading off for short Christmas break:

Re: Switching to trades?
I switched to all trades (for all of my titles, not just Valiant) back near the first of this year and really enjoy reading in large chunks. As mentioned earlier, the timliness of trade releases these days doesn't leave you THAT far behind; and I don't worry about spoilers - I tend to read about ...

Re: shouldb I switch to just Trades?
A year or so ago I was getting about 30-35 single issues a month - expensive but fun. I can't remember the exact titles, but there were several that I just wasn't compelled to read every month so I dropped them and strated eyeing the trades. This gradually crept across a majority of the books until ...

Re: Discuss omnibuses
The Bone OmniBOO! (because it's October) is on my To Get list - read it all in trades years ago. I used to have the Cerebus phonebooks up throughh Melmouth, but rereading them a couple of years ago was such a slog that I sold them. Absolutely great moments, but the series as a whole just didn't draw ...

Re: Discuss omnibuses
I love me some omnibuses (omniboo). Been selling off singles and buying hardcovers whenever available for about the past year. I really like the oversized art and extras, plus the all-in-one nature of most of them. I'll definitely be picking up the Stern Spidey omnibus - that was the stretch I was ...

Looking forward to reading all of this when it's collected. Heard so many good things about it, and I'm already a Hickman fan, so no-brainer. Got his FF omni coming next week, but I may hold off until the 2nd one is out so I can read it all together.

I'm always amazed at the people bidding well above cover on trades and hardcovers that are still in print and can be ordered frm Amazon or bought at your LCS. I guess some buyers from outside the U.S. may not have the same access and are bidding that high. Or the "winning" thing.

I pre-ordered it. I'm with you, one of my all time favorites. I've looked at getting the Absolutes a few times, but held off due to the prices and not having the one-shots. I'm happy to have it all together in an over-size format.

Re: Your Pull List?
My pull list has dropped from 25 or so a year ago down to 3. About half of that is due to switching to trade-waiting (and/or hardcover waiting), but the rest I just lost interest in. There are a few more I probably would get monthly, except that I got into them late with trades and figure I'll just ...

Re: Creators you would buy comics by no questions asked...
I think Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman are the only writers, and Eduardo Risso the only artist, I will buy regardless of character, company, collaborator or genre. Most others are dependent on one of those other variables before I'll just blindly pick them up. I may be forgetting someone...but that ...
