How Many....
How many comics would you say you read in a week? A month? Do you think that's a lot, or a little? And if it's graphic novels, or trades, please break that down into single issues.
Thanks!
For me, I've been binge reading Walking Dead, at least a trade a night sometimes. That's 6 issues a night.
Other times, it's just some of the new VEI stuff, so maybe 3 a week.
Thanks!

It's hard to say. at times a few a day. But TWD stuff reads quick and is like potato chips.

Re: How Many....
Usually only the new VEI stuff that comes out. Once or twice a month I might grab a handfull of old comics from my boxes and read a bit, but lately I've been rereading all the Jack Ryan books by Tom Clancy, so that's been my go-to reading for the last month or so.

Re: How Many....
The last few months I've made a concerted effort to catch-up on my reading, so I'm going through 5 or 6 trades a week (25-30 issues). Usually, it'd be about that many in a month.
This post has been carefully constructed so as to add absolutely nothing to any discussion or topic.

Re: How Many....
I read almost every night. At least 5-6 days a week. Each night, though, is extremely variable - I pretty much read until my Nook falls on my face. I read anywhere from 1-2 issues up to 20 or more. I read at least 10-15 books a week, but usually closer to 20. Most of those are back issues of various things.

At least 1 or 2 comics a week. But when I get behind, I might do 6 in a day.

Re: How Many....
I'd say about 15-20 a week. Trying to get caught up on a lot of things. When work was crazy month I fell even further behond so now I am playing catch up. I also stay current with Valiant issues though. Right now I am getting caught up on Morning Glories, after that will be Forever Evil, then I am not sure. Maybe Lazarus or TWD, which I haven't read since issue 74 or so. That is one book that needs to be read in big chunks since each individual issue is such a quick read. It's better to let it build up for awhile I think.

I'm not taking that bait. That was clearly meant to be placed in the quotes thread, but I've already made the last 4 posts to that thread.Magnus9178 wrote:I get it on about 3 times a night. In fact I always try to get 3 in before bed.

Re: How Many....
I average 2-3 books a night, mostly re-reads.
Lately, i've been re-reading Alan Moore's "Supreme" run and also just finished Sam Kieth's "The Maxx" series for the first time. Amazing work, I must say.
I currently subscribe to 12 monthly books (most of them Valiant) so every week I have some new goodies to read! Whee!

Re: How Many....
On average, I would say between 5-10 issues a week, either individually or as one trade. Right now, I am on a Rucka binge, covering Stumptown Vol. 2 and Queen & Country Vol. 1.
I do the majority of my reading in the morning, fix some nice breakfast, sausage, eggs, pancakes, and settle in for an hour or so of quality reading (half an hour if I have to go to work). Good way to start the day.

Re: How Many....
I get the 8 Valiant books every month and then maybe a few others. the only other book I'm reading right now is Kings Watch, but that might change when the Gold Key books start. while I had stopped buying new comics when DC started the new 52, I never stopped reading the ones I had, and that's still the bulk of my comic reading these days.

It's part of my nightly routine to read a single comic. Old Avengers and Iron Man, recently added the Watchmen (got the hardcover as a holiday gift) and of course Valiant.

Re: How Many....
I purchase and read 10-12 per month.
This does change from time to time (e.g. when I was deployed to Iraq a few years ago, I read more than 3,500 pages of Marvel/Image/Devil's Due G.I. Joe comics in my down time).

Do lots of military types read comics? Seems like they do, but it would seem that it would be a source of ridicule from the Dum Dum Dugan set. (forgive me if this is a stupid question - my extensive knowledge of anything military is from entertainment media and a memoir about the Manhattan Project written by Leslie Groves.DirtbagSailor wrote:I purchase and read 10-12 per month.

I am not a military man myself, but have run across a surprising (to me, at least) number of military or former-military members who are big comics fans. The one thing they almost all have in common: Captain America.lorddunlow wrote:Do lots of military types read comics? This has been my experience as well, which is why I posed the question. It seems like something that would be ridiculed, but most of the guys I've known that were military read comics.GammaJosh wrote: I am not a military man myself, but have run across a surprising (to me, at least) number of military or former-military members who are big comics fans.

Re: How Many....
Not sure really. I was Platoon Chief for about 70 guys once, and had 4 Silver Age graded books displayed in my office. MOST folks who saw them, seemed to think it was awesome, and usually asked about them.lorddunlow wrote:Do lots of military types read comics? But as a whole, I'm not sure that they do. At least not to such a degree that it was apparent. Video games, well that's a whole different story. They pretty much ALL play games together or alone in their spare time.
Since the Marvel/DC films have been in theaters, people in my office ALWAYS ask about details, characters, info, etc. I think that Film has created a new generation of fans, and once I get back to a real military assignment (I'm on diplomatic assignment presently) it wouldn't surprise me if the 18-20 year olds are more incline to be comicbook fans.
and that is the point when I plug VALIANT.

Re: How Many....
Over the past 10-15 years, I have found more fans at or above my age (e.g. fans from the 70's, 80's, and 90's).
I think many of the guys born in the 90's who are just now joining the military grew up in a different world with different toys. But as I said in my previous post, film might slowly be changing this...
