VALIANT Discussion at CGC Board
Not sure if this has been linked or talked about already, but I think it's kind of interesting to read what others have to say about VALIANT. I just started reading the first page or two so I'm not sure if it goes off into the usual CGC board insults as usual.

It's funny to see how some people partially blame VALIANT for the speculators back in the day. VALIANT didn't make anyone go anywhere and buy a case of Bloodshot #1, but they printed them because there were orders enough for them.
Good article, I'll have to go back over it again sometime...

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

ZWH goes by the name "Flying Donut" on the CGC boards.depluto wrote:What kind of stuff do they discuss? Every time somebody steers me to a thread there it's OK stuff, but I always think "Man, if Zeph were over here he'd break his keyboard stomping all these peckers."

Joe comes up with some good points but I often wonder why he still collects comics . . .billandedsdeals wrote:I do as well...we have zeph...they have joe-collector!!!DawgPhan wrote:depluto wrote:Who else here posts on the CGC boards?

I know...that is very annoying...if you have to make up people to agree with you then maybe you should rethink your stance on the particular issue...X-O HoboJoe wrote:The most confusing thing to me on the CGC boards is there are some members with 20+ ID's who shill-shell the hell outta certain topics.

Sometimes it seems like making up your sources and supporters is what the internet is all about. That, and tattling on other people who do this.billandedsdeals wrote:I know...that is very annoying...if you have to make up people to agree with you then maybe you should rethink your stance on the particular issue...X-O HoboJoe wrote:The most confusing thing to me on the CGC boards is there are some members with 20+ ID's who shill-shell the hell outta certain topics.

I post there as Dawg said; I find it has a broad mix of collectors with varying interests and if you stay out of comics general and visit instead the era-specific areas of the boards you can really learn a huge amount about the hobby.
Some of the threads in the Golden Age section are just treasure troves of talk from some really really immersed collectors, not to mention the tons of scans of books you never get a chance to see up close and personal.

I can't believe people actually do that. Shill bidding at least I understand the motive, but that's just weird.

it seems like 1 out of every 10 active posters on that board is a shill and most everyone know who are shills...they get banned and they come right back as something else...and most of the time it is something like comicphan1 and then they come back as comicfan1 or something like that...
that board survives in spite of itself...with the CGC folks standing with their heads shoved in something, the shills, and the constant bickering it is amazing to see anything worth reading over there, but there is some good stuff..
