Bloodshot 2004
I have taken the liberty of making this thread for the fan-project. I think it would simply be easier. So, the next page of script, or any scans of page one that have been done, go ahead and post 'em here.

I can and will (and have) done the script for Page Two. But if we don't whip some sort of plot into shape, we could be in big trouble, methinks. Who all wants a shot (no pun intended) at scripting? And what's the best way to do a writers' conference?
And if anyone draws Page Two I'd love to buy the artwork. Pretty please!

Page One (just to get it all here)
PLOT: Bloodshot 2004 by Kevin VanHook
PAGE ONE
PANEL ONE.
Thin, horizontal panel. NYC skyline. Brooklyn side. The famed Brooklyn bridge, sold to countless bumpkins and pictured in postcards for nearly a century.
CAPTION: New York City. July 3rd, 2004.
NARRATION: It's not the height that bothers me.
PANEL TWO.
Same angle. Closer. A lone figure is standing, balanced on one of the high-tension steel cables that support the massive bridge. Something long and metalic is in his hand. A glint of light reflects off, betraying the length of a sword. He holds it out like a highwire artist holds an umbrella.
NARRATION: Once you've been dropped out of a jet a time or two, you get used to it.
PANEL THREE.
Vertical panel. A familiar silhouette, making his way toward the masonry where the steel cable joins the brick and stone. Moonlight betraying a bit of the pale skin, the lightning bolts shaved in his scalp. A .357 magnum Desert Eagle is holstered under one arm. BLOODSHOT.
NARRATION: And it's not the fear of losing.
NARRATION: I face that everyday.
PANEL FOUR
CLOSE on his hand as he grasps the top of the cable and...
NARRATION: I guess...
PANEL FIVE
...swings himself upward, to land on top of the Bridge landing. Ready to strike out at his enemy...
...who is seated in front of him, facing camera without turning to look at Bloodshot. He is Gilad Abrams, the Eternal Warrior. Fist and the Steel of the Earth and someone who is damned near immortal.
His right arm is missing--a crude bandage staunches the flow of blood and he seems to be almost in a state of meditation.
NARRATION: ...It's the feeling that I'm betraying my best friend.
GILAD: You can put that away, Bloodshot.
GILAD: I'll turn myself in.

PAGE TWO
PANEL ONE.
While he hasn’t replaced his katana in its scabbard, Bloodshot has lowered it to a non-threatening position. His internal turmoil between duty and friendship is evident on his face.
BLOODSHOT: Gilad. I--
NARRATION: Just do your duty, here. Just as he would if positions were reversed.
PANEL TWO.
Cut to TOM MORGAN, surrounded by a platoon of New York’s finest, dressed in full riot gear. Morgan is in a button down short-sleeved shirt (it’s July in NYC, after all). There’s a hint of barricades and flashing lights atop squad cars. Morgan’s wearing a two-way radio earpiece, which squawks to life.
EARPIECE: Let ‘em know he’s coming in peacefully, Tom. No accidents.
MORGAN: I understand, Lazarus. Will do.
PANEL THREE.
Bloodshot starts to approach Gilad and has gotten a step closer.
BLOODSHOT: Let's go, Abrams.
PANEL FOUR
Bloodshot is directly behind Gil and placed his left hand (in deference to Gil’s injury) on Gil’s shoulder.
BLOODSHOT: You’ll get your--
PANELS FIVE THRU SEVEN.
3 box panels, all in a row. Action sequence from in front of Gilad. Gil moves so fast that Bloodshot is in the same position in all 3 panels. Gilad, though, is a blur of motion, missing wing and all. With his left hand, he pulls a gun out of his jacket [FOUR] (hey, NYC ain’t got nothing on Mesopotamia!) and pivots [FIVE], aiming it directly at Bloodshot’s face [SIX] (BLOODSHOT #46 alluded a shot through the eye and into the brain might be fatal).
NARRATION: What?
PANEL EIGHT.
We see the new face-off from the side, Bloodshot on the reader’s left, Gil on the right. Bloodshot drops into a defensive stance, his katana now held slightly back and above (similar to holding a baseball bat), futile though it might be. He knows all too well what Gilad’s capable of. Any sudden moves and Gilad’ll open fire.
NARRATION: His meditating was a deliberate ruse. With his pulse rate that low, I never suspected a thing.
NARRATION: Stupid--
PANEL NINE.
Bloodshot’s POV. He’s staring down the barrel (force the perspective a bit to make it look like a portable cannon. Gil can handle the recoil on anything, anyway) and past it at Gilad’s face. Gil looks determined--teeth gritted, sweat on his brow from the pain--but completely capable of pulling the trigger and wasting his best friend, apparently the difference between survival and duty.
NARRATION: --Bringing a sword to a gunfight.

Sure. How's about a Glock .45 semi-auto?Jaknife wrote:Any specific kind of gun that Gilad has?

I changed the page (edits back above) and made what was PANEL FOUR into 3 PANELS. Cool? Thanks!Jaknife wrote:Also, in panel 4, what angle and type of panel do you want?(horizontal, vertical, box?) Like, are we going from the same angle as panel 3? or are we just winging it? Did any pros ever ask as many questions as me?
(and now that I've collaborated with Kevin VanHook on a Bloodshot story, I just have to hook up with Tina Fey for a lost weekend to die happy)

Nice work BOH. Who's got page 3 so I know where this thing is headed. I just started brainstorming some idea's for the story and I think I've got a good plot line. Should we discuss it here or does anyone have another idea.
Also I think someone should step up to play editor. I vote for VanHook (obviously) if he's willing to help us all tie it together.

I don't think we should discuss it here. There needs to be SOME element of surprise for most of the readers, no? Everybody up to group emailing? If so, contact me at the addy below.
Of course, I have an idea, too, so that's why I think we need a conference. This sucka needs SOMETHING to hold it together.
Who else wants to play? MOTA? Any splash page scripters out there? And how will the naked chick fit into all of this?
Hey, Kevin. I nominate you as the author of the final page. And, just think, editing this bad boy ought to do wonders for your deadline driven procrastinations!

I PMed Greg about setting a private writers only forum. It would be temporary, most likely. But, it would be either password protected, or you would simply be able to get in while the rest can't. Now, I am not positive that greg will do this, if it can be done, but I'm just letting you know I asked. All in the sake of Bloodshot 2004! Oh, and Mr. VanHook, No one ever thanked you for choosing Bloodshot for this.

After "Rampage," he was enhanced. Ninjak was able to keep the enhancements without some of the, shall we say, negative side effects. Yeah, he's a big mickey-fickey.Jaknife wrote:whatever he does, dont let it be to comicy. let the realism/coolism flow. man, is bloodshot really 6'8"?! i would have thought 6'3"-4".
