Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #13
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

Continued from Solar 17. It's interesting to see how the Spider priest talks to Solar. And there's some good action. Also some plot holes. All and all a rather good issue.

It's better than the Solar issue it's continued from but not by much.
The gladator fight over the armor is amusing but really cliched and I'm not sure if it really fits in with the spider aliens (why does every alien species have a gladiator arena?).
It's funny having the alien ramble on about becoming the new X-O. So they're going to fit 55,000 aliens inside this guy?!? It seems as silly here as it did in Solar. It's even sillier later when they reveal there were tons of spider alien ships on Earth that could've got them home...
Anyway then the fun ends after the arena fight and we end up with another boring "sluaghter the spider aliens" scene. Couldn't they atleast pretend these guys are a menace? Have one of the beams actually hit Solar. Have them pull out some armors or heavy weapons. Something, anything, that actually amounts to struggle or a challenge for the heroes.
And then Solar decides to say the hell with it and destroys the base pretty quick when his plan to find the homeworld hits a hitch.
Not great story but not too painful either. A 6.

I noticed that too, I guess someone forgot to read the blood color memo for all of the regular spider aliens being killed in this issue.Todd Luck wrote:Yeah but atleast the big one had the right colored bloodDaniel Jackson wrote:Not too bad of a story, I thought Aric's hand to hand battle with the much bigger and stronger alien monster was a little too far fetched.

Happened last issue too. Maybe spider aliens with red blood are wusses? I mean, just look at them in this plotline...Daniel Jackson wrote:I noticed that too, I guess someone forgot to read the blood color memo for all of the regular spider aliens being killed in this issue.Todd Luck wrote:Yeah but atleast the big one had the right colored bloodDaniel Jackson wrote:Not too bad of a story, I thought Aric's hand to hand battle with the much bigger and stronger alien monster was a little too far fetched.
