Re-Reading: Solar #30
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.
the holidays are keeping me busy, sorry the slow updates. Im also working on Shadowman totals so hopefully they will be up soon.

Ravenous. Basically the human parasite in a radiation suit.
His origin is pure cliched pseudo science. Yet another one of those characters who gets stuck with a bum power so he immediately decides to go on a killing rampage.
He's not very interesting. Nor is the fight he gives Solar (who is obviously way out of this guy's league, where's the tension here?).
Bright spots: The question Solar is left asking at the end is interesting. The Phil/Gayle relationship is still enjoyable. The musing that Phil does about not needing to work mirrors what Shooter said in an interview once about how it was silly for the Gold Key Solar to have the powers of a god and then tinker with test tubes in a lab (you'll notice there's no reference to Phil and Gayle having jobs in U2000 but that could just be coincidence). It's nice to atleast have that addressed here.
Still, far more boredom than enjoyment here. A 6.

There's no label on the cover (all Valiant Vision stuff, even if it was just the cover, beared the label). The cover certainly has the right combo of colors to make it work. Coincidence or did they forget to label it?jedimarley wrote:Cover.Todd Luck wrote:I guess you mean Valiant Vision sucks in general? This issue wasn't done in Valiant Vision...jedimarley wrote:LAME!
Bad story, Valiant Vision sucks, AND a dumb *SQUEE* villain!
Sorry

The cover does look like they may have intended to use it for VV.Todd Luck wrote:There's no label on the cover (all Valiant Vision stuff, even if it was just the cover, beared the label).
