Does Random Art Appreciate?

I'm wondering if anyone believes, for example, Eternal Warrior #35 page 3 will ever appreciate if Valiant's popularity does or are these destine to remain $40-$200 pieces of art?

There's a lot of factors to consider. The artist, the story, the condition, etc.

Exp: The page in Unity where Rai gets toasted by Mothergod. I would say this page would be worth a substantial amount, eventhough it's a "random" page. It shows the death of Rai, which is Valiant history.

Oh.....

And you can never go wrong by owning an original piece of art. It is THE RAREST collector's item there is in the comic world. I've given up on collecting comics, & now concentrate my $$$ on art.

Well, It depends mostly on the artist and particular page/character. For some reason, Valiant pieces from "hot" artists like Sean Chen, BWS and the like are considerably cheaper than their Marvel/DC stuff which, in the particular case of BWS is really good news. I guess indie superhero original art being always cheaper than Marvel/DC original art remains and will remain a rule of thumb. Again, I consider this good news, since It will make possible that Valiant Art ends up in caring hands.

Yes,

Based on the artist mainly and as long as there is a following for that particular genre it should steadily increase.

I think when Valiant re-launches, that last one of Solar banishing Erica into the worm hole will play a major part in the stories to come.

Nice pieces....!!!

Bah, I'm so jealous that I'll never get the chance to own such cool pieces. Of course I've only been going after valiant art half assed so I have no one to blame but myself. :thumb:

I think I'm going to stick to color art. Cheaper and not yet all taken by the big three Dino, Boda and X-Omatic.

Don't give up too easily. Some of the best Shadowman pages I bought were for around $30.00/page on eBay. When the seller re-listed the one's I did'nt buy, they sold for over $60.00. It's just a matter of looking.

Also, I suggest investing in some John Buscema Conan pages. These seem to be withstanding the test of time in the market.

<<I'm wondering if anyone believes, for example, Eternal Warrior #35 page 3 will ever appreciate if VALIANT's popularity does or are these destine to remain $40-$200 pieces of art?>>

Look at this way---No matter the page, no matter what is on it---You own one of a kind, an original. There is no other. What ever page you have in your hand, on your wall or in your collection that is it you hav ethe one and only original. It is not 1 of 10, it is 1 0f 1.

Value is really set by the beholder and or owner. For me each, each page is just as inportand as the other. I always see things in that one page no matter what it is that makes me happy to be the sole owner.

I don't have any Valiant art, but this thread (and some in a toy collecting forum that I frequent) have left me with a need to share (read: brag, but to people who likely have much more/better art than my meager collection. SDCC 2005 started off this latest addiction for me, and I love it! Can anyone give me idiot-proof instructions to start and utilize a photobucket (or whatever) account and post with it? I am using a Mac with 10.4 and have an Olympus digital camera. I'm kind of technologically *SQUEE*, so I really do mean idiot-proof.

http://www.imageshack.us/ is what I use.

1. Download the photos from you camera (plug the camera into your mac and move the files from the camera folder onto your computer).

2. Resize the photos (they will be large images so you want to use an image editing program to resize them to 25% or 50% of their original size)

3. Upload the first photo (Go to http://www.imageshack.us/, click browse, find the photos on your computer and click open. Then click host it.)

4. Copy the URL (After you click host it the page will load for a bit and then you will be taken to a page where there are lots of internet addresses in gray boxes. The one at the bottom should say Direct link to image. Copy the URL in the gray box.

5. Post your image (Log onto the message board. type your message. paste the URL in the message. Add "" to the front and end of the URL. Hit submit.
