Entire run of Valiants on ebay and I mean ENTIRE
The Black Diamond I collection has been listed on ebay. The only thing I am holding out are the duplicates and the Bloodshot 0 Platinum that has already been sold. Here is the link to the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :B:LC:US:1
There is no reserve so let's see what what a entire run is worth in today's market. Quite the experiment eh?
For those wondering 'WHY?' Well, I have a baby on the way.
Happy bidding.

I want to know who got the bloodshot platinum...I would have liked to have a shot at that but oh well...Billy Walker wrote:The Black Diamond I collection has been listed on ebay. Info on the CE red
Just to tempt everyone a little more I want to describe the Chaos Effect Alpha Red. I obtained this copy from a large dealer (very large). It comes in a mylar holder just like the VVSS issues. It has been signed by Bernard Chang. Now, Greg hasn't posted much information on these but from what I can tell, certain dealers received signed copies according to how many Chaos Effect comics they ordered. The reason I think this is that this particular dealer had TWO of them (and, yes, I bought them both). One was traded a long time ago to Zero. He was very interested in this issue. It has all the look and feel of an unofficial VVSS book. However there is no certificate or stamp on the book. You never know if it will be confirmed that they did send out signed copies as a dealer incentive.
The only minor flaw with this book is that the dealer bent the back lower corner on the outside edge (not the side with the staples) while he was pulling the book in and out of the mylar. He did this while talking about Valiant's downfall and how it almost put him out of business. I stood there the whole time going "Yeah, yeah, how much?"
Of course that was in my head. The bend is about 1/4" long. Nothing major but I thought I would mention it since I was talking about the book.
The rest of the key issues should be in about VF+ as a minimum. There may be minor stress around the staples of the X-O 1/2 gold. Nothing else comes to mind. The Unity TPBs are very, very sharp. The winner will get the best copy of any multiples. Thanks for checking it out. Good luck!

Yep. My main interest was getting the lot, of course filling in the holes of my collection, and attempting to sell off the resulting doubles to break even!Steve G. wrote:we'll see.....
I personally think Billy would have done better parting them off piecemeal. Lots of people can afford a few hundred here and there. Not many these days can afford a couple of thousand here and there......so we'll see who has deep pockets, & who has holes in their pockets.:)---Steve G

Yeah I was thinking that if this goes for less than $2000 then both people could really make out well...I doubt that he has $2000 in these books...and I know that you could sell them for more than 2 grand piece by piece...you have to figure that you could probably pull a good 5-600 outta the VVSS books...another 5-600 for the xo gold and the diamond unity tpb....that is already have half of your money back for less that 1% of the books...Still have tons of books that are worth about 10 bucks...probably close to 100 books that are worth about 10 bucks....that alone would put you over $2000....or you could set up at a show when the hype that is growing has reached its peak and then sell all of the books...I sure that if you bought this for less than 2 grand that you would come out on top by selling it off in pieces...

Yeah I can not even think about the reaction to "Hun, what do you think about me buying 800 comic books for like $2000" *duck flying plate* "Umm yeah I will get back to you about that"dave wrote:that is a GREAT idea...i'm gonna go run that idea past my wife-hang on..........................BOOF! Piecemeal
Guys,
I realize that I might have cleared more listing them one at a time. However, selling them as one lot has several advantages. One bill, one payment, one mailing, etc.
Also, I enjoy challenges and decided on a spur of the moment to sell. I have a baby on the way and other hobbies as well (well, one big hobby besides Valiant). Dare I say I collect KISS 'stuff'. Yep, you know, the group that IS in the comics. That is my greatest weakness after Valiant.
I sold my Bloodshot 0 platinum to pay for a rare KISS concert poster from 1973. It was essentially a trade. Once the seal on the Valiant collection was broken I started giving thought about selling the run. I have enough doubles to keep the ones I bought in 1992-1993.
If I was going to put it up I wanted to see how it would do. I think everyone here is curious what a collection is worth in today's market. So while it may not have made the smartest ebay sense, it does offer the unique chance to see what the market can bear. It was most convenient to me to do it this way so I wanted to give someone else a chance to own the collection in one full swoop. Of course, I hope they make it to a good home.

The reason that I specified US only bidding is that my one negative feedback on ebay came from a guy who won an auction of mine from out of the US when the auction specifically stated it was a US auction only. He did not understand my right to refuse to sell to him since he violated the auction/ebay rules. He got ticked because he thought he still had a right. When he realized he didn't he posted the negative feedback.
I say all that to say this-if there is anyone on this board that lives overseas and really wants to own these, I will make an exception. But you have to be willing to work with me on figuring out how to ship, how expensive it will be. If you're cool, and want to take I shot, then I will trust the members of the Valiant board to make the shipment a smooth transaction.

Overstreet? Seriously?Steve G. wrote:So what's the Overstreet value on these? I figure around $1,500 tops.---Steve G
They never list any book below cover price...
so over 800 books for at least $2 to $2.50 each
will make the total somewhere around $1,800.
BUT... they list books like Unity #0 Red at $3.

So, I'm not sure Overstreet helps much...
According to them, you can get 3 Unity #0 Reds for the price of one X-O Tpb.

ok greg! i'll take them! just send me your paypal acct info...don't foget you've got that HTF valiant reader coming too...
personally i think someone made a boo-boo by telling all of us that it's gong to "take a lot to knock him off being the high bid..." it makes me want to bid just to try to expose the bid-even though it's already WAY outta my reach. i wonder how many bidders are just bidding it up knowing (or really really hoping) they DON'T become the high bidder...just my opinion.
i'm surprised it's so high already! i thought most of the action would occur in the last few days and minutes...

I bid (rdaneel13 and buckeyefanatic) knowing I wouldn't get them. That doesn't mean if I won it at that price I wouldn't have the $$$ to the seller like immediately though! My final bid was just low enough to set up the $1234.56 price - I was bored.dave wrote:ok greg! i'll take them! just send me your paypal acct info...don't foget you've got that HTF valiant reader coming too...

you musta been bored to figure that out-
and i din't mean to offend anyone saying that you're all just cheapskates not really trying to win, i was simply wondering if anyone was doing what i thought they might be doing...(convoluted enough for you?)
i'm glad that i've reached this heightened state of self-awareness to the extent that thusly and therefore you are all very much more dumber than me...

On another subject ...
To the seller and possibly the buyer, if he/she/they are readers here.
Send all the key books in ultra protective polybagged metalic super dooper packaging with a nice sum of insurance and with a priority speed of shipping.
Send the bulk of books lower cost, still insured maybe, but independent of the mass shipment.
Just an idea, seems like it would be safer that way - maybe a tad bit more work and cost overall, but that is what I would request/do!
