Anyone Reading VH2 ??

Post by graybola »

Is anyone else reading or have comments on vh2? I just got a lot of the runs and have just read all of the eternal warriors, and all of bloodshot except #5. I also read the Harbinger : Acts of God oneshot.
I bought the first few issues of the series that had the same name as vh1, but only for like 2 issues. It was too much of a change for me too enjoy them at the time. I wanted Aric (XO) and the magnus I knew. At long last I am giving these books a chance and they would have held their own if they had been published as an elseworlds thing in conjunction with the vh1 stuff. Maybe if acclaim would have eased the characters in and slowwly removed the old titles people would have gave them a chance.
I thought that the eternal warriors was a good series and I definately would have enjoyed reading more. I enjoyed how they added little references to vh1 such as archer getting a similar haircut and armstrongs reference to his old bag.
I enjoyed bloodshot as well. I am not sure where the character would have went had the series continued, but I enjoyed the last issue and how everyhting was tied up.
I also liked The harbinger book as well, though there didnt seem to be too much originality to the plot, but anything that has to do whith valiant even as remotely as vh2 made me excited to read. I did not like that Harada wasnt mentioned in this book, but was comforted bby seeing him in another acclaim book.
I have been trying to read them as elseworlds type series. I still have a few other runs that I picked up to read and will offer comments on those as well.

Personally, I think the Quantum & Woody books were the best that Acclaim put out. Actually I think it was one of the best, most tongue-in-cheek books I've ever read. Great read!

I dont have any of them yet, but plan on trying to get them soon. I dont need all that many issues to finish my reader set of vh1 so I figure I will try and get these as well.

Anyone else have any recomendations on what to try or not? How was the armorines series?

As long as you take them as seperate from the original Valiant universe I think you will enjoy most of them. I've started to reread them to compile a character apperance list for this site and I've really enjoyed most of what I've read so far. The only one I remember not really liking was Eternal Warriors but I'll give it another shot.

I liked Troublemakers and Quantum and Woody. Q & W was epic I'm surprised Priest has not tried to get ownership of those characters. Darque Passages was very good also!

dude you're getting in so deep i'm gonna have to send MOTA after you! you're beyond my help now...

i've only read the first armorines issue-and i thought it was a good military type book. i liked it-and would like to read 2-4. bloodshot...i still don't know. some of it seems so much like the old bloodshot and yet there is still something missing...it has many many good ideas (like nanites needing something to "work with) and yet it never goes that next step for me...you know? vh-1 had these great ideas and then they blossomed into even better stuff, with twists and turns-maybe that's it with vh-2 no surprises...even though the whole point of vh-2 bloodshot seems to be "who is he?" angelo or ray or michael lazarus or what?

it is hard to explain what i don't like about most vh-2.

i still don't like color tv...they shoulda left it alone-black and white was good enough fer me pappy...it's good enough for me...it's a fad!

All I'm going to say is this about VH2....I TRIED reading Ninjak VH2...NOT good. When I complete my VH1 set...I'm getting real close.... then I'll probably go after VH2. My bud, Knight, says start with Bloodshot, then EW's, and ease my way in. Got a bunch coming from Justin...so we'll see.

I just read the Doctor Tomorrow series and enjoyed it even though there wasn't really any link to Vh1. I remember reading a few of the Ninjak series when they came out and HATED them. To go from colin king to a kid that transforms into a video game character is a little too much.
