Fan Art thread

Post by SolarFan777 »

I looked around and couldn't find any thread to post some of my original art so here it is...
Hope this is an appropriate folder even though it is not Valiant characters (yet). If Greg wants this in General I guess he'll send it there. :D

As you can see I haven't done much for awhile. These are 20 years old... back when I had time to draw (before wife, kids and full time employment).

Since I could not get the owner of the original to sell I made my own. I laid out the basic form with a grid. It is 11 x 17 standard artboard size. It took about 3 hours to draw and about 6 hours to ink. It is done entirely with brush with exception to the sword.

I haven't done any others yet. The main reason I wanted it is that Rai 3 was the first Valiant book I ever bought. It is still one of the best comic covers.

I've always liked that cover as well. You did an excellent job recreating it.

OK, they're not Valiant characters, but there could eventually be a crossover. :P

Just so you'll all know why I could never be an artist myself...
Here's my attempt at Dr. Eclipse from when I was 16.

Image

Since I know I can't draw very well, I'll stick to digital "art"...
so here's a "fan art" piece I made in 2001.
Image

:atomic:

I can barely remember working on this "wallpaper" for computer desktop...
so I don't know if I ever shared it with anyone. (It's also from 2001.)

The Dr. Eclipse drawing reminds me of some of the stuff that fans sent into Wizard or Hero back in the day. While it's not a "masterpiece" by any means it's still not too shabby for a sixteen-year-old Valiant fan.

Hey, I really like the digi-art of Seleski/Solar. And about that Dr. Eclipse - it's better than I could ever draw him! I am just about giddy whenever I write my signature correctly.....

That Dr. Eclipse looks kind of like the Noid from those Domino's adds long ago (except black), but it's a crapload better than I can draw. I can draw a below average stick figure, but that's it.

I like that Harby wallpaper!

Avoid the Noid!

Yeah I have some valiant sketches I did back in the day. Guess I was 14 or so. I remember the one of the T-Rex biting Aric in half. I should scan it and post it for a giggle.

WowThose are some cool inks X-O and that Rai #3 is sweet x-omatic. I do wish I had more time to do drawing or maybe it's just ambition.

Here is a rough page from a comic I did back in the 80's:

And another that's a little more inline with comics.

I was kinda the "evil guys" killing the peace-loving villagers. It was based loosely around that old song "One Tin Soldier".
