VIP Theory
You guys remember that failed Magnus and Doctor Solar relaunches from a few years ago, with art by Pat Quinn on Solar and (I forget his name) on Magnus?
Could VIP be the people that were behind that?

Sometime ago an individual (I forget his name) tried to get the Solar and Magnus license from Golden Books to do series unrelated to the originals or the VALIANT versions.
In his Solar version, Solar fought demons or something like that, while the Magnus version looked like a cross between Fifth Element and Robotech.

I've seen the Solar one before. Is the other information for that series still on the net? Their was a sketch of the monster that was supposed to be the villian of the series with a very small bit about the story.
There was also one of Bloodshot in an outfit that looks a lot like Solar's oufit but it's red and with out the stars. I know I saw that was on Blood of Heroes' site (that may have been were I saw the link for Solar).
Magnus I've never seen before. Never knew it was part of that deal.
Petrilak is the only person I've seen other than Western who's ever applied for Solar (checked the US trademark office) but I don't know if he was involved in the little "project" Man of the Atom is thinking of. Petrilak, ofcourse, didn't get it even though the Western's tradmark was officially expired or dead by then.
Doubtful it has a connection to VIP.

i think anthony (bloodofheroes?) had all this info on his website. is it still up? no idea...i remember him telling us that pat quinn had drawn several pages of a story that was to appear in wizard but the whole deal fell apart when the publisher found out that western was NOT granting them the rights to the character.
i remember there being a big stink about it due to work being done and people not being paid...but that's about all.

It was drawn by the same artist, hence my confusion. It didn't look like the Bloodshot from VH-3 in Unity 2000 #4. It was something Perham had done after he chunked the plans for the VH-3 in Unity 2000.ManofTheAtom wrote:The Bloodshot project you're thinking off had nothing to do with these Solar and Magnus projects.
That Bloodshot project was going to be published by Acclaim as the VH 3 Bloodshot after Unity 2000.
Here's more info for those curious:

Re: VIP Theory
Sean Clauretie on Magnus, inks by Damon Hacker, color and story by Chris Sotomayor. More than doubt they are behind VIP. It's not their style and they've already been burned once.ManofTheAtom wrote:You guys remember that failed Magnus and Doctor Solar relaunches from a few years ago, with art by Pat Quinn on Solar and (I forget his name) on Magnus?
