DC Universe Online
Did you guys ever play DC Universe Online? Did you know it has Shadowman's mask on it?
I can't run it anymore, but it occurred to me that it would have been fun to get together to play as a VALIANT-themed guild. Did any of you ever do that?

That's sounds cool. I've never played a mmorpg before.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 11:18 am Did you guys ever play DC Universe Online? Did you know it has Shadowman's mask on it?

This also made me think, are there any tabletop rpgs that would work well to play a version of the VALIANT universe? I've not played any to know which one could be adapted to use VALIANT rules. I know that George R.R. Martin and some other writers played a 2 year game of Superworld in the mid 80s that became the novel series Wild Cards, up to 30+ novels and still going today.

It's been decades since I've played a table-top RPG. The DC game from Mayfair would have been great to create VALIANT characters, though.Ryan wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:30 pmThat's sounds cool. Whoa, I had no idea! Does anyone play?
That sounds interesting! I think I'd be more partial to creating a custom universe based on strictly following pre-Unity rules (I know that's extremely nerdy hah). Just not a big fan of deadside and all the magic. But maybe it would be easier to use the Valiant one and just tweak it, de-power some people, get rid of magic, etc. Or do a combination.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 4:25 pm It's been decades since I've played a table-top RPG. I don't play it, got no one to play with. You could also ask on the Facebook page if anyone does.Ryan wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 4:41 pmWhoa, I had no idea! Does anyone play?

I'll look into it. Going to try and get a copy of the VEI RPG. Would be cool to run a game that incorporates the GK3 and Broadway characters as well.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 4:49 pmI don't play it, got no one to play with. Absolutely. I'm not familiar with the game, but I imagine it must have rules for creating characters.Ryan wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 5:02 pmI'll look into it. Going to try and get a copy of the VEI RPG. Re: DC Universe Online
I got a copy off ebay on the way. Seems to be a very 'rules light' game, meaning more storytelling freedom and less rigid rules. Like hardly any rules at all. I haven't gamed enough to know if I would like that or not.ManofTheAtom wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 5:51 pm

I can't believe all the VEI fans on here, and no one's even tried to play this?

I'm thinking I might use it and look at a few of the classic games like Heroes Unlimited, Champions, DC, Marvel, etc. to make a hybrid/custom system for the classic VALIANT universe.

There used to be sites with made up stats for DC's game that included the VALIANT characters. I looked for them, but I couldn't find any that had those.
Try the VALIANT Fans group on Facebook. Maybe people there that don't post here played it.

Found some good stats and rpg descriptions at writeups.org https://www.writeups.org/eternal-warrio ... ics-gilad/
Was doing some research on modern 'supers' ttrpgs (there's a ton). Aberrant and AMP: Year One have caught my eye as leaning more towards realism and 'hard sci-fi' that is similar to VH1.
Also reading my copy 'Ninjas and Superspies' from 1988, which is in the Heroes Unlimited universe (Palladium). It's got a great near-future martial arts system that would go great with VH1.
Where is your VH1 wiki writeups again? I need to bookmark that.

I'm trying to find more info on the forms of energy in VH1, Ecotheric and Necromantic energy. Not finding a lot, trying to remember which books that was explained in

Also, anyone want to share a pdf or copy of the Valiant Continuity Bible?

Excellent. The VEI RPG book looks to have a very detailed synopsis of VEI continuity, but it came out in 2014 so its not up to date.ManofTheAtom wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:58 pmHave you searched the forum to see if anyone might have shared one in the past and the link or images might still be there?Ryan wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:37 pmYes! Yeah I've searched before and commented on the threads where people who have copies of the VCB are discussed. It's a premium rare item, so I get that people don't want to make copies or a pdf, it might lower the value if that got widespread.
It's such a cool, historical document it would be awesome if we could do a board project to do high quality scans and make a limited number of "zine" reprints. But yeah, I don't have one
