Chrome says ValiantFans password found in data breach
FYI, I did a Google Chrome safety check this morning and it said that my ValiantFans password was found in a data breach three months ago. I suspect that probably means the same password I use here was found in a breach of some other site, but I figured I'd let you all know just in case. -Josh

You're the first to mention it. It's likely that any "same password" situations could be from any other breach (usually banks or governments) and a change of password here will fix it here.

That's my thought and plan, but figured it couldn't hurt to mention it, just in case!greg wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 10:24 am You're the first to mention it. Re: Chrome says ValiantFans password found in data breach
Is this some kind of universal notice or does this imply that only people using Google Chrome to browse are at risk?

Your browser wouldn't affect your risk. Chrome just happens to have a built-in password security function that tells you if any of your stored passwords were involved in a data breach. The one I use here was involved in a data breach somewhere, but since I use the same password on multiple sites I'm not sure which site was actually breached. It almost certainly wasn't here, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post, just in case.IMJ wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:04 pm Is this some kind of universal notice or does this imply that only people using Google Chrome to browse are at risk?
