The dollar books are curious. Why sell cheap books for dead titles? Does it spur TPB sales? I don't get it.

nothing new, no Deluxe editions to see here. Heard rumor of the Britania Deluxe, thought it could be released, but not quite yet

Also confused by these. Maybe to make up the numbers while they build new launches? It's been a long time since Valiant started a true ongoing series. Was Ninja-k the last one? Does Shadowman count? I know they announced 5 story arcs for that one but with the new valiant cancelling the book early does it count?

Putting out dollar books for previous #1s on apparently-dead titles seemingly does make no sense.

But that’s only because we haven’t gotten the press announcements yet for these future plans. These are the new dollar books that I am aware of with the corresponding return series:

Wrath of the Eternal Warrior—Incursion
XO Manowar 2017—XO Manowar 2019
Divinity—????

I don’t know about you, but it’s that last one that has me checking daily for press announcements from Valiant!

I pre-ordered 25 copies of Divinity #1 (2019 One Dollar Debut) to ensure I have at least 1-2 submission candidates for a 9.8.

The remaining copies will be given out for free at my office.

Great idea!

I have not tracked the release of one-dollar debuts in the past, but I’m pretty sure the XO Manowar (2017) $1 debut solicitation occurred just before the flash of a promotional image from a new XO series. The $1 Wrath similarly corresponds with Incursion.

Implausible as it seems, I think this can be seen as implying that a new Divinity series or mini might be on the way.

My thinking is that the ready presence of $1 books on racks may stimulate trade sales for some of the highest quality Valiant series, and more importantly, build excitement for a new series.

Toyo Harada and Fallen World should be good, but that's it for me unless there is some X-O stuff coming.
