MY Valiant story...
What's up, everybody?
Obviously, I'm new here. No doubt I'd have been here loooooong ago had I known this site even existed
!
Y'see, back in 1992, I used to have a comic shop with a buddy of mine. We basically just put our own private collections together to keep initial overhead down, then bought other people's collections as they came through. After making contacts with a few places that'd hook us up on new issues for a discount, we were rollin'.
One day, I happened to stop into a gaming store that was on it's way "out" just to see what they had. In their back room, they had literally TONS of the beginning of U.N.I.T.Y., as it had just come out. I picked up all the cross-overs they had, and damn, what a good read!! Without even knowing that much about the Valiant universe, I immediately went back the next day and bought them out. Come to find out, they also had a butt-load of early Valiant titles sitting in boxes they'd never updated with the current Wizard
. Needless to say, I went ahead and pilfered through all that and bought all those books, too
!
From that point on, I was hooked. Like many of you, I was already familiar with the work of Barry Windsor-Smith from his early Conan days with Marvel, as well as the original characters of Turok, Solar, and Magnus from the classic GoldKey books. But continuing on, I found newer artists like Joe Quesada that just dumb-founded me with their panels, as well as some of the storylines these books churned out. I honestly didn't believe there were any better books on the market, Marvel storylines included!
Then Acclaim came along, and I got my *SQUEE* handed to me :x ! I had SO much back-stock I could now no longer unload due to the severe drop in prices that Wizard stamped on the books from the Acclaim buy-out...what a crock
!!
It was shortly after that I got out of the comic book side of it, and concentrated on baseball card collecting. I've done that for almost the last 10 years consecutively, which brings me to now.
I'm getting ready to move out of state in the next few months, and I still have several boxes of bagged and boarded Valiants sitting in my (temperature-controlled) storage room (I'm a NON-smoker, too). I really need to unload as much of this stuff as I can before I move. I fully realize I'll never get what these books could bring in their hey-day, but that's just how it is. Regardless, I have a LOT of early back issues, ALL titles in NM/M condition for those looking to pick some up. In addition, I have several Gold variants, and a few with autographs of the artist and/or writer. My favorite is probably the X-O #0 GOLD with a Joe Quesada autograph in gold Sharpie I picked up in person at the Chicago Comic-Con back in 1995. It's a SWEEEET book that needs a good home, along with all these other beauties, so please feel free to contact me with want lists and offers. I am NOT looking for trades, just sales only, sorry.
Again, even though I'm "new" to the boards, I've got an extremely solid reputation I've built on eBay over the last several years. Before purchasing from me, please feel free to check my almost 1800 feedbacks under user name peejayzkardz for my seller verification; you will NOT be disappointed
!
Glad to have found this site, and look forward to hanging around awhile
!
Cheers, BloodShot

welcome t the boards...dont sell anything to dino...he already has enough stuff..
If you post a list of stuff in the B/S/T forum..I am sure that the guys on here will pick out what they need. I am in search of a few commons and what not, so bring on the list...where are you moving to? Chances are there is a valiant fan somewhere near you..
