VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
2 things I do not see on this solicitation:
The names of Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler. My fear is that they have left the project for creative reasons.
Faith mini, issue #4. I am wondering if there is a production delay.
I too am saddened that issue #14 will be the last for Ninja-K, but this was probably inevitable.
On the bright side, everything I see and read about Livewire is exciting. Perhaps this is where the new Valiant will really make it’s mark?

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
It finally happened...they’re technically not soliciting it, so it’s not “late”, but this is the first “late” issue from VALIANT since the relaunch. Add that to the crappy, pieced together event that was HW2, and things don’t bode well. Once Ninja-K is over, we’re left with 5 books in January ‘19!?! And that’s if Faith actually does return before that mini is over. Yikes.jaden_sai wrote:AnarchoMambo wrote: Faith mini, issue #4. I am wondering if there is a production delay.

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
Maybe, with so many titles now gone, we can collectively save the money to by valiant back by putting aside the money we spend on monthly titles that are not put out anymore.
DMG stock is -90% of its value since buying Valiant.
Ok, there is a movie coming, so we double our offer to $200,000.
I know Dino paid more, I know DMG paid alot more than that!
But even Accliam didn't fall so quick.
My only concern is what to do with valiant once we brought it. You can't bag and board it.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Ninja-K ending really stings. At least we got Shadowman. Who knows what's next for X-O after this arc? The rest? Meh to completely disinterested. The art that isn't done by regular Valiant folks looks questionable. It's really sad watching VEI crash and burn in slow motion.

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
Did they literally lose Bloodshot's creative team after the FIRST issue? So this is an eight issue ongoing where the writers, who pitched the series, only stood on board for the first issues, and then just jumped ship. Isn't this literally what just happen when Eric Heisserer left Harbiner Wars 2, and then Kindt ended up filling the blanks of the story at the last minute? When this happened with Harbinger Wars II we attributed it being a symptom of the transition, but it's been nine months now. That excuse isn't going to work twice.
Faith being delayed a month doesn't help much either.

wow. Valiant is a train wreck. This month makes it official. This really underlines how impressive what Dinesh and co did was. I'm sure they faced the same issues/problems and we know they had the same expectations/entitlement from readers but they delivered time and time again. Hard work and smarts. It's amazing to see it all come undone so quickly. Meanwhile the last things Dinesh is in charge of, the Bloodshot movie, is the one bright spot (in production with movie star).

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
I was excited for a new direction with Valiant, but my initial fears are being realized. The people who DMG hired don't seem to 'get' what makes Valiant special nor do they seem to have any interest in figuring it out.
It's not too surprising though, if you hire the people who ran Catalyst Prime then don't be surprised when Valiant starts to look like Catalyst Prime. The perplexing thing is that if you look into the Catalyst Prime sales numbers if their titles make the sales chart at all they usually ship less than 1000 copies to stores. Not sure how that works
Anyway this feels like something between VH2 and VH3 to me. Long term collectors make sure to grab some of the low-print run final issues, they're always sought after in later years

I loved Dinesh at Valiant. Shooter too! But the characters are where my true loyalty lies. I will continue to follow them through any creative changes.

HWII stunk, BS Rising Spirit looks to go down the same path, they can't put out a mini on-time?
The more I think it about, the more I think I'll cancel my Bloodshot order - I don't want to wade through another HWII event again...

Sucks that a person was right about Ninja-K ending soon. But it's been one of the best series this year and will fit nicely in a deluxe edition down the road. What's the over/under on XO ending at #25?
Hoping Livewire is worth a pre-order bundle. But I think I'm going to pull it regular just to be on the safe side.

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
While it’s not great news, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time a one month gap “delay” on soliciting an issue has occurred at VEI. I seem to recall it was an issue of RAI, but I could be wrong. It’s not a sign of a coming Valiant Comics Apocalypse.
It is odd that some of the additional writers are not listed for Bloodshot PRS #2, could be a typo/oversight. Although in the first place, 3 writers seems like an uncomfortably awkward-sized creative team to me.

I believe with Rai they took breaks between each arc to account for Clayton Crain doing all the art duties and not rotating in another artist.grendeljd wrote:While it’s not great news, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time a one month gap “delay” on soliciting an issue has occurred at VEI. Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations
Actually, if we are going to talk planned gaps, there were 3 month lags in between Rai arcs. 1-4 then a 3 month gap, 5-8 then a 3 month gap, 9-12 then a 3 month gap. Harbinger Renegade also had this, 1-4 then, IRC a 4 month gap before 5. But these were intentional due to the same artist staying on the book for it's full run. Putting out 3 issues of a 4 issue mini and then delaying the last one is actually unprecedented at VEI and therefore arguably represents the first ever late-shipping issue.TheFerg714 wrote:There was also an extra month gap between 7-8 and 11-12.BugsySig wrote:I believe with Rai they took breaks between each arc to account for Clayton Crain doing all the art duties and not rotating in another artist.grendeljd wrote:While it’s not great news, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time a one month gap “delay” on soliciting an issue has occurred at VEI. I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.
