Spine bend that breaks color

Post by aj583 »

Expert CGCers. I have the smallest spine crease, but I can tell it does break the color. How far does this knock me down? 9.4 even possible?

If that is the ONLY thing wrong... I've seen them as 9.8's, but 99% of the time... either 9.4-9.6

Agreed, and depending on the size of the spine break. 9.6 for the smaller, 9.4 (or lower) for the bigger ones

Helpful. I’ve got the smallest spine crease on a dark colored spine. I can’t tell if it breaks color (borderline) or can be pressed out. Going to press it and learn. Sounds like a 9.6 from the discussion.

If you have one very tiny color breaking spine stress your comic may still be able to squeak through with a 9.8. Case in point, Outcast #1 Black photo cover. Almost every copy had at least one from the printer. The one I sent in that was flawless in every other way got the 9.8.
