Predictions for VEI in 2018?
As the new year is upon us anyone want to share some predictions for the next 12 months for our favourite comic book company?
Here’s a few of mine...
1) Ninjak v the Valiant U (Bat in the Sun) series is released before the end of March and it’ll be well received by Valiant fans
2) Harby Wars 2 will be a quality event, surpassing Harby Wars 1
3) XO Manowar will continue as an ongoing for the next 12 months (ie no relaunches)
4) VDitti will write a one shot/mini for VEI
5) Josh Dysart will be back and as good as ever
Ok well not the most risky of predictions but then I’m not claiming to be Nostradamus
...can anyone else do better?

5) This better be--I almost feel like he pulled a Dave Chappelle...and he's gone missing and won't ever return.
I don't want to make any predictions I'm 'rooting for'. I can call a home run for the opposing team if I really want my team to win--that's the limit of my special powers...
But here's some...that aren't likely to come 'all the way' to fruition...
1) a supporting character in Shadowman will be bigger and better received and get their own mini that leads to a 2019 ongoing.
2) We get cover art by Dave Rubin
3) Valiant trumps the big two by snagging Donny Cates to an exclusive 7-year development deal.

1) Bat in the Sun will release Ninjak Vs the Valiant Universe on the day that Ninjak Vs the Valiant Universe #1 is released.
2) There will be a logo for the Bloodshot and Harbinger movies. That will be all of the movie news.
3) Matt Kindt will finish his tenure with VEI upon completion of Ninja-K.
4) Joshua Dysart will return to continue the Harada saga.
5) Doctor Mirage will return by the end of the year in her third miniseries.

Should number 3 be XO (not Ninja-k)? What makes you think Matt will bring his tenure to a close, he seems very central at the moment? I think the Divinity/Eternity story will have more to be told (for example)jxm640 wrote:1) Bat in the Sun will release Ninjak Vs the Valiant Universe on the day that Ninjak Vs the Valiant Universe #1 is released.

Re: Predictions for VEI in 2018?
Not up-to-date enough to make predictions, if I'm honest. But I will say some things that I would like to happen:
1) Reprint of OOP deluxe editions (I sold a few rare ones earlier this year and haven't been able to get them back)
2) Deluxe editions of Imperium, Harbinger Renegade, Bloodshot Salvation, Ninja-K and XO Manowar
3) Announcement of release dates for Harbinger & Bloodshot films with some teaser promotional material, as well as casting.
4) Release of Ninjak VS. and announcement of a follow-up series if successful (to keep the exposure going until the films come out)
5) Expansion into animated movies or TV shows (again for more exposure)
This is all I can think of at the moment.

Re: Predictions for VEI in 2018?
I kind of agree here, as I believe his work that he has done/is doing with Heisserer and the friendship they have forged, will push him into writing a script for one of his other books, and he just might head off into that direction (writing movie scripts). While I have loved his writing, I do feel that Kindt will continue writing X-O Manowar until completion, which may be a total of 36 issues. Either that, or he will write the hell out of this adventure, and try and beat V-Ditti's epic run...jxm640 wrote:You are correct about number 3.Dallow Spicer1 wrote:Should number 3 be XO (not Ninja-k)? I'm not sure. I heard he was good in The Wall, but I'm not sure he had to do much in that movie. I was just talking visually, though. I could see it visually. He looks the part. And he's good at selling choke-holds.kjjohanson wrote:Has he actually acted in anything halfway decent?jeremycoe wrote:Cena, huh? Re: Predictions for VEI in 2018?
He was very funny in Trainwreck, and has done the action thing decently in The Marine. He’s also got a few projects coming up including a comedy called Cock Blockers that looks pretty funny, and he’s the voice of Ferdinand the bull in the upcoming animated feature, which is probably his biggest “leading role” to date.jeremycoe wrote:I'm not sure. If he’s the guy for Bloodshot and Bautista is the guy for EW, that could be pretty bad@$$, but could also get a little too WWE a little too fast. That is a pretty loyal fan base, though, and can add some great cross-promotion. And both have shown they can act a little. The more important casting to me will be the surrounding cast. Who they are playing off of can make or break these films.

The script, director, and producer will matter the most. He can make it work with the right production team.

Agree whole-heartedly about the supporting cast being super important. It can make or break a film for sure.

Re: Predictions for VEI in 2018?
John Cena as Bloodshot, Dave Bautista as Eternal Warrior?!
It just seems way too much WWF for Valiant unless Vince McMahon is planning on buying Dinesh and company out. He could do it for the change in his pocket I'm sure, but how could they maintain creative power enough to not get really odd. Especially given how liberal VEI is and conservative the WWE is.
Dave Bautista as Eternal Warrior makes sense. The difference between John Cena and Jared Leto as Bloodshot is enormous. I'll readily admit, either would be a coup the kind I'm confident no one in their right mind at VEI headquarters would have legitimately believed likely. I will be pleasantly excited for an announcement anything remotely in that direction.
If you look at the talent Valiant has put together, it's admirable. But, what they haven't done is brought already established players to the table. The most impressive creative talents they've employed, who were already somebodies previous are Greg Pak and Jeff Lemire. Dinesh is supposed to have connects in Hollywood. Jason David Frank don't do it for me.
Show me something.

I'm sure you understand that companies which specifically market to conservatives in order to satisfy profit margins for shareholders are not sincere about it.eschnit wrote:... given how liberal VEI is and conservative the WWE is.
There's a big difference between being a true conservative "good ole boy" and being a billionaire who profits from them (monetarily, politically, etc.). The billionaire just has to act the part when the cameras are on and the "good ole boys" will buy it (literally)... hook, line, and stinker.

Vince is buddies with Trump, and his wife, Linda, ran twice for Senate as a conservative Republican in CT, losing both times before being named Head of the Small Business Administration by Trump. So, yeah, they’re conservative. But if in some parallel universe Vinny Mac bought VEI, he’d sell anything if it made a buck regardless of any personal or political values. Though I doubt you’d see Hillary on any future covers.greg wrote:I'm sure you understand that companies which specifically market to conservatives in order to satisfy profit margins for shareholders are not sincere about it.eschnit wrote:... given how liberal VEI is and conservative the WWE is.
