Mail Order/ Online Retailers
If you order comics and graphic novels through the mail, where do you get them from? DCBS? TFAW? Please chime in with any online retailers. Would love to know more options available. Also, what about for toys, t-shirts, statues, posters, hats, and other items? Thanks so much!

Re: Mail Order/ Online Retailers
For new books, I use a combination of amazon, eBay, DCBS depending on who offers the lowest price.
For back issues (besides eBay), sometimes when I am trying to complete a run and I am just missing a certain issues, and don't care that much about condition, I use mycomicshop. I let the want list build up a little bit and then order. It's easier to get them all from 1 place and save on shipping.

I get some through Collector's Paradise.
I also get some from my old LCS in Seattle. He always treats me like a most important customer, and he ships my stuff out with care. Always hooks me up with freebees and Valiant swag when he can. He's done me so many favors, I sent him a couple bottles of wine for Christmas.

Re: Mail Order/ Online Retailers
New issues I order from DCBS. If I decide I want something day of release I've ordered from midtown or ebay at that point.
Back issues sometimes I'll use ebay, but my favorite is comiccollectorlive.com. It's several stores on one site kind of like ebay stores. You can set up a wishlist and then see which stores have items in your wishlist. Usually I'll go to a particular store that has one item I'm interested in and click on "On My Wishlist" and it will show me all the items on my wishlist that this store has for sale. It's really handy.
For trades that aren't preorder I like instocktrades, or amazon.
Other items, if it's a preorder and is listed in Previews I'll use DCBS. Otherwise I usually buy from Amazon or sometimes ToysRUs.

Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.

I order floppies from Ed at Collector's Paradise. Ed's shop is hands down the best comic shop I've ever dealt with even though they are 3,000 miles away.
For TPBs, I order from instocktrades.com. Deals from 20-50% off.

Be careful when ordering trades through Amazon because they just throw them loose in a box for shipping. For HC's you should be OK with Amazon, but I agree that Instocktrades.com is the way to go for most trades and HC's. They ship all books well protected.

Thanks, Chris. And as I PM'ed you, for everyone else. We offer the same deal as we offer on comics, on TPBs and HCs, you can subscribe to them the same way as you do to the comics. Same personal service and everything. We carry more VEI books in stock than probably almost any retail store, 5-10 deep on each volume of each title, and get regular reorders. We have it in stock, if it's in print.Intrepidxc wrote:I order floppies from Ed at Collector's Paradise. Re: Mail Order/ Online Retailers
I'm a former Amazon employee. I've been an Amazon customer since 1996. I do not buy any books from Amazon any longer. Why? For TPBs, they don't even always use a box. I would get Valiant TPBs in an enormous padded envelope. The condition would have been better if I had kept it in my back pocket for a week. I exchanged 1 TPB 3 times, and gave up. I complained to the most senior management possible at Amazon. Nothing changed. DCBS all the way. Been using them for almost 10 years now and I can't say enough about their price, customer service and ease of use.

Re: Mail Order/ Online Retailers
I received a Green Arrow trade with a huge corner ding from Amazon and that was the last one I purchased from them. However, I did find a coupon around the holidays and picked up the Harbinger Volume 2 Deluxe HC for $20.00.nycjadie wrote:I'm a former Amazon employee. I've been an Amazon customer since 1996. Re: Mail Order/ Online Retailers
Ed is great ! I do get most of stuff still through my local LCS, just because I use to own a shop so i try to support locally. They do well mostly, but they don't do much discount, don't do much to help with extras, but do give me everything Valiant they get. If I ever give up on them, which I consider too often, I would definitely go with Ed. I get a lot of my hard to get new books from Ed already, and their specials and package deal he offers are just awesome !paradise wrote:Thanks, Chris. And as I PM'ed you, for everyone else.
