XO Manowar 42
Wow. I think this might be the best issue that Venditti has written. The character development of Aric: indecision, strength, guts, and inner turmoil. Saana was more prominent. Trill was frustrated but not in a way I saw coming. And... We are back to an unfinished thread with Ninjak from 2 years ago.
I love how this works with what is happening in Imperium. It seems like good old fashioned VH1 and how things linked up.
In addition the Art was amazing. I loved the full spread of the jets.
I'm looking to a re-read of the arc later on.

Solid issue, I enjoyed this finale to the Exodus arc. Great moment for Aric as he diffuses the situation completely at last, I loved the idea of him going into the hive-mind space to speak with the Priest. I really hope that priest survives his wounds.

He was bandaged up in the royal bed at the end, so I think I he's at least not dead yet. He seems to have survived for now.grendeljd wrote:Solid issue, I enjoyed this finale to the Exodus arc. I knew he wasn't dead *yet* by the end of the issue, but I must have overlooked that panel showing him all bandaged up.

I think this was one of the best issues of X-O to date, Aric's internal conflict and his strategic resolution were very well scripted. This is the book I would hand to people to show them who X-O Manowar is.

Enjoyable issue, really loving the concept of Plantings all over the planet in strategic places and at Trill's command. Still plenty of interesting plot threads to unfold eg will the U.S. government allow the Vine to stay, will the priest die (doubt it), what will Trill do next etc.
Minor gripe on how the artist draws eyes! Often he avoid drawing eyes open for no apparent reason and sometimes has Aric with black eye balls?! Also I'm not too keen on the light beams that come out of the armour, seems excessive.
Overall Solid stuff! 3.75/5

Re: XO Manowar 42
this was a good issue but there was one thing i didn't like
aric does that whole 'next to shoot has to fight against me' thing but what if one of the rogue plantlings had shot from the human side???

Re: XO Manowar 42
Oh, nice. That would have been cool. Aric would have been able to tell with the armor, but that would have escalated the situation regardless. Doesn't fit with the long, drawn-out conflict the book is apparently going for, but would have led to an incredibly awesome fight!Brapbrap wrote:this was a good issue but there was one thing i didn't like
