Imperium #10 Discussion
This has been my favorite Imperium story so far. I can't wait to see the battle between Harada and LV-99.
Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room.

Re: Imperium #10
Yet another great issue of Imperium. It's interesting that the Vine plantings are actually responsible for creating Rising Spirit's anti-psiot technology.

A lot of interesting tidbits in this issue, a history lesson of sorts. The amazing thing about this issue, Ryp did most of the art (flashbacks) that guy is on everything, definitely, one of the fastest, most detailed artist, in the biz.

Another slam dunk issue, great read and art all the way through. I loved the history lesson, and adding another layer to the idea of the Vine plantings.
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.

Fantastic issue. One of my favorite bits was how the Vine kept misunderstanding Harada or not saying exactly what he told them. Which directly lead to their provoking him, foolishly. I really like how strongly this ties the Vine to the Harbinger side of the VU.

Re: Imperium #10
I don't think misunderstanding/miscommunication is entirely the case. It's more like thanks to communion, it takes one or two incidents for the entire collective to see through Harada's benevolent guise that he's utterly insane.hunter_peterson wrote:Fantastic issue. Re: Imperium #10
No, they quite clearly show that the Vine are attacking Harada under false pretence. He threatens the first Vine he hunts down by saying he can be the last Vine Harada kills if the Collective backs down, but then the guy he's threatening doesn't say that to the Collective. He only says the first part, in terror, about Harada killing every Vine. Then he dies and they never know the offer to end hostilities was extended, and because they can't be read psychically, Harada seems to have assumed that it was rejected.tiredofmyself wrote:I don't think misunderstanding/miscommunication is entirely the case. It's pretty much a colossal misunderstanding by two Inhuman parties.

Huh. I didn't read it that way but maybe. I'll have to have another look.hunter_peterson wrote:No, they quite clearly show that the Vine are attacking Harada under false pretence. I didn't read that much into that incident however on reflection I think you're right.hunter_peterson wrote:No, they quite clearly show that the Vine are attacking Harada under false pretence. Re: Imperium #10
Tremendous issue once again from Dysart and the art was superb too! Really enjoying how the Vine are crossing over into the Harbinger side of things and it's all done so skilfully and seamlessly. Love how Dysart is using the Vine collective conscious which was VDitti's concept yet it's appropriate and in context with the earlier XO books (which isn't always the case when one writer uses another writers concepts....looking at you Ales Kot!).
Great issue 4.5/5

+1 - consistently my favourite VEI book is whatever Joshua Dysart is writing. And this arc, with CAFU & Ryp both handling art duties...BugsySig wrote:This book *SQUEE* rocks

Re: Imperium #10
Dysart's longitudinal story, running from Harbinger 1 through Wars, Omegas and Imperium, seems more and more like one continuous SF novel, and one that I suspect may be quite highly regarded years from now.

Re: Imperium #10
Really enjoyed this. Imperium has not missed a beat for me, even if there is a ton of stuff I have likely missed over the ten issues on first readings - I really look forward to the deluxe hc appearing for re-reading this gem.
Love the call-back to the late 60's stuff we glimpsed in Harbinger Wars, and seeing that makes me want for a 'Harbinger: 1968' mini so very much.

I thought that was a great solution, because it used the building blocks they have for why without yet another new addition.jmatt wrote:Yet another great issue of Imperium. It's interesting that the Vine plantings are actually responsible for creating Rising Spirit's anti-psiot technology.

I hope so. For me this is truly top-notch work, and Imperium has felt like a step above Harbinger.Tony_H wrote:Dysart's longitudinal story, running from Harbinger 1 through Wars, Omegas and Imperium, seems more and more like one continuous SF novel, and one that I suspect may be quite highly regarded years from now.
