Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap and Turok 2 baseball cap
Anxiously waiting for a possible newly discovered promo item (hint VH3). I searched on VF and other sites and couldn't find any info on it. I will take some pics when it arrives and hope you guys help me track down its origin.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap with adjustable buckle and snap closure. Embroidered with Shadow Man on front and Acclaim on back. The tag says HeadShots by KC Caps. Made in Bangladesh. RN#89449 (H&C Headwear Inc. based in Carson, CA). It looks great and it is in like-new condition. Does anyone have any info on this? May be it's a prototype or promo item?

Wow, there's no way that's a bootleg.
Must be something Acclaim had made as a promo item to give away at shows related to their Video Games. Possibly for Acclaim employees as well. My best guess.

Re: Anxiously waiting ... Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap
When I bought it, I thought there's a chance it could be a bootleg. But after seeing it in person, with the high-quality embroidery and the KC Caps tag (which I wasn't aware of at the time of purchase), it's got to be a genuine item. KC Caps has been around since 1991 and it's still in business so timing-wise, it makes sense.ckb wrote:Wow, there's no way that's a bootleg.

Good point about the video game aspect of it. Can someone recommend a video game forum? I can do some research there. Also I will take a long shot and email KC Caps directly to see what they know.

Re: Anxiously waiting ... Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap
Thanks. It's been a good couple of weeks in terms of tracking down super rare items. Within the past month, I found this cap, Valiant Fall Flings marketing brochure, and the unsigned version of the Fatale HC previously owned by the late Dave Cockrum.nycjadie wrote:Super rare. Nice!

This is pretty cool, nice piece to add to your collection.

Newly discovered items are always great!

You might email Howard Simpson and see if he has seen it before. I know he was still rocking his Acclaim Shadowman sunglasses at conventions 10 years later.

Re: Anxiously waiting ... Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap
I don't know about this specific item.
I can only say that Acclaim was trying to make money after buying Valiant and it's value dropped dramatically.
This most likely did tie-in with video game. Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful.
Just for the record, I have been wearing those shades long before Shadowman or Valiant were created.
I purchased them in Philly, while I was in college.

Picked up something similar to this cap . . . will share when it arrives (yes, I think it's a newly discovered item).

as stated before, always the hunter.
It amazes me your drive, constantly on the lookout. It's amazing from my perspective, as I collect, but not nearly as deeply as you do.

Re: Anxiously waiting ... Acclaim Shadowman baseball cap
Thanks! I am sure there are more undiscovered items from the original VALIANT universe. I haven't even dived fully into the trading cards and foreign issues. I have some of the rare trading cards and some random foreign issues but haven't done a full inventory and search.TheeBaldMoose wrote:as stated before, always the hunter.

Acclaim Turok 2 baseball cap with adjustable buckle and snap closure. Embroidered with Turok 2 on front and Acclaim on back. The tag says Headmaster, Inc. Made in Bangladesh. Headmaster is based in Santa Ana, CA. It looks like a legit item and not a knock-off.
