Put VALIANT On Billboard!

Post by GammaJosh »

Hey guys, thanks for all the incredible support of the new Shadowman album. The support has been so strong in fact that we are on the verge of a potentially very good Billboard chart placement for the album, and Valiant is listed as the record label and would be printed right there on the chart along with the band and album. We may even have enough to hit #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, which would be a major achievement.

The physical media reporting week is already over, but for the next two days (through 12am Friday morning), digital sales count towards the Billboard charts. We've made the album only $4 on Bandcamp, which is a newer site but great because it allows you to select lossless high quality audio files (or regular mp3s if you prefer). Of course the album is also on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and other sites. All of these sites report directly to Nielsen/Billboard automatically, so wherever the purchase happens, it counts towards a chart placement.

A strong chart placement would be great for Valiant. They really went out on a limb with this unusual product. Being able to show mainstream success on the charts would help bring more creative, outside-the-box type projects to light, and would just generally help Valiant's properties look great and move them ahead in all aspects.

So, if you guys want to get behind a "Put Valiant On Billboard" movement, give the album a big push online over the next two days! Leave reviews on Amazon, and share the links to the digital album:

Thanks guys, last day for digital sales to count, #1 placements I've seen have ranged from 1900 sales to 3,400 in the last year. ASoT alone is reporting ~1800. Not sure what Amazon, iTunes, Bandcamp, etc. will be reporting. So we have a slim chance of a #1 on the Heatseekers albums chart, but there is a chance! Any posting and spreading of the word this afternoon is appreciated! Whether we hit #1 or not it should still be a good placement and a nice feather in the cap for the band and Valiant. Thank you all for your support! \m/

A lot of the guitar work in Can't Go Back sounds Criss Oliva-inspired. When I heard the Savatage-like riffs, I smiled. :)

Just finished my second full album listen. Wow, this is much better than the comics. The songs are strong. I just wish that there was an epic closer. Then again, you ended with End Times, so I guess you do not really have that much epic material for an ending. Hahaha

My favorite is Can't Go Back. Must have listened to it eight times already. Works well as a standalone, which is rare in narrative concept albums. Tremble is also very good. I would have liked Tower of Souls more if there is less narration within the song.

We were debating offering alternate mixes of Tower of Souls and End Times without the narration during the music. Those are the only two where there is narration during the music, and we felt it was necessary to move the story forward...but probably not necessary if you've already read the comics!

Thanks, and yes, "Hall of the Mountain King" sitting in my CD collection behind me, although for that riff I thought more modern Iron Maiden for the main riff, and "Never Say Die!" era Sabbath for the bridge riff after chorus 2, which is one of my favorites on the album!

Yeah, can definitely hear those influences in the guitar. Good work, man. It's refreshing to hear metal done in the classic way (without sounding dated). The djenty stuff gets tirimg after a while, the only band I follow that use djent elements is Haken.

We just played with Haken in May. Great band. Mike Portnoy actually joined them on drums for an encore that night!

Not sure if anybody saw the placements, but Valiant is sitting neatly over the Scorpions and right below Ghost B.C. on this week's Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart. Nice job, everyone! Valiant should be putting out a press release tomorrow!

Sorry it's too late to help out with the Billboard placement, but I will be getting a digital copy to check out for sure in support of your album.

Don't know if you're a fan of them, but I just saw Ghost B.C. in concert last week! They were amazing! Do you guys plan on touring?

Ghost B.C. is awesome. I'm a big fan of Blue Oyster Cult (I know, no umlauts) and Mercyful Fate, and Ghost reminds me of a mix of both. On the new Ghost album I also hear some influences of Deep Purple and even Genesis. The new one is my fave of the 3 by far!

We are doing a short mini-tour in November, hitting Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Hattiesburg, MS, Austin and Houston, and Oklahoma City. Possibly one or two more dates to be added. We'll be playing a good chunk of "Tales..." live, and just got some badass stage banners with Shadowman and Master Darque.

As for what's next, definitely a non-Valiant album for our next studio album, but the one after that...I'd be lying if I said I didn't have songs about Operation: Deadside, Doctor Mirage, and even Ghost Train (rebel loa mentioned but never seen in Milligan run) kicking around in my head. Damn this character family is just so ripe for metal music. We'll have to see where Valiant takes the story though, and of course they'd have to approve a sequel!

Oh, good call on those influences - I love the 70's prog-rock influence on their sound. And Mercyful Fate! Yes!! Totally agree that the new Meloria album is the best so far. I *love* Cirice, it's my favourite track (that and the instrumental "Genesis" track on the end of the 1st album). The video for Cirice is also fantastic, with a Dario Argento vibe to it.

Wait a sec... Did you say STAGE BANNERS OF SHADOWMAN & MASTER DARQUE?! You must provide pics from your tour here so we can see that. Sounds awesome! Hope your tour does well :thumb:
