Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
Pretty cool. We got the origin of New Japan, but with enough left open for future stories to fill in the gaps. We also know the origin of Spylocke (and why he wears purple
) now. Mention of the 2nd Armor Hunt, Harbinger Trials and the Fitz Rebellion as future events. Pretty good overall, but a little anticlimactic with Gin-Gr just blowing up at the end without doing much damage, and seemingly without Ninjak having a plan (which is very out of character).

And let's not forget mention of The United trying to get into Deadside. I want to see that story, now.BugsySig wrote:Pretty cool. The only aspect of this seemingly terrific tie-in to Rai that stuck in my craw was how Harada is still alive, unless he transferred a shred of his consciousness into a positronic like Amanda did

Yes. He's about roughly 80 in the current timeline correct? Unless he got some sort of tech from Silk or secrets from the Bleeding Monk that's keeping him alive, I have no clue how he could manage to live that longKeith wrote:Because of the age factor?

I think Harada will be covered in the fall of Harbinger, from what I have read in the preview.

Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
As far as Gin-Jak not doing any damage, it looks like they took out the southernmost tip of Japan. If you compare a map to what is floating in space at the end, it isn't there anymore.
Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
I LOVED this book. I only wish it could have been a bit longer!
One thing that I haven't seen any one else address, maybe it's just completely obvious to them, but does this imply/confirm that Ninjak is a Harbinger?

That would make Collin a little bit overpowered don't you think? Unless he's latent like Bloodshot wasNairbe wrote:One thing that I haven't seen any one else address, maybe it's just completely obvious to them, but does this imply/confirm that Ninjak is a Harbinger?

It sounds more like he was able to establish through meditation similar abilities to Roku. I do not believe this is a Psiot ability.omega_override wrote:That would make Collin a little bit overpowered don't you think? The way he describes being able to "control every cell in his body" is identical to how Roku is described.BugsySig wrote:It sounds more like he was able to establish through meditation similar abilities to Roku. Plus, the end of Ninjak 6 seems to be leading toward Colin running the same gauntlet with the Undead Monk.
It's a great tie-in. The two Ninjak books this week were un *SQUEE* ing believable!
Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
Yes, I was thinking along the lines of a latent like Bloodshot. He sort of "pops" himself later in life via meditation learned by the Monk (total guess/speculation there).omega_override wrote:That would make Collin a little bit overpowered don't you think? Again just a great book that leaves it just open enough to have fun speculating like this.

This has got to be one of all time favorite Valiant issues. The levels of epicness were up through the stratosphere and was great seeing all of the tie ins to future Japan. Primary Reebo has some serious competition now for my top.

So much goodness in this issue, I need to re-read it a few times, just to soak it all in. Kind-t's Rai as well, so many seeds planted there. Kind-t really knocked this one out the park. 5/5

Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
The ending didn't accomplish much, but this was a great book nevertheless. Tying it into implied origins for Rai characters and concepts was a great touch. These are exactly the sort of connections I look forward to in a shared universe, and it showcases the uniqueness of the Valiant universe and why these characters belong here and not, for instance, in the Marvel or DC universes.
Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
It was pretty neat to see where some of the origins of the some of the Rai info came from. Going from this I'm definitely in the Harada = Grandfather party. Spylocke being an organization not a singular person is neat. The positrons. Wouldn't be surprised if Colin is the inspiration for Rai created by Amanda or her positron anyway.
Also I don't think Ninjak is a psiot. I believe that he's in tune with his chi and things like that.

Outstanding. Loved seeing everyones fate. Loved samurai GIN-GR. Loved the scenes with Gilad, I think Ninjak and Gilad's friendhip/rivalry is on par with the best Batman/Superman stories at this point. Fist and the Steel, dude.
Some questions though-- Is Gilad going to the Deadside? And if so, will it have to do with Book of Death?
Maybe Darque is going to be an EW villian now, I think they would be a good match for each other.
Also, I thought all the Armor Hunters were dead, and that's why the Dead Hand was activated in the first place?

Command activated Dead Hand when their home planet was invaded, thinking they were basically doomed to extinction. The team who went to Earth notes that they had lost contact with them well before arriving to Earth.ChiptheRipper wrote:Outstanding. Loved seeing everyones fate. Loved samurai GIN-GR. Re: BOD: The Fall of Ninjak - Discussion
Definitely an enjoyable read, but I felt the ending, with the apparent failure of Ninjak's and Gin-GR's attack on Japan, was a bit disappointing. Of course they couldn't succeed in destroying Japan, since it's a firmly established part of the future VEI universe, but it would have been nice to see Ninjak's last mission not seem so futile.
