Ever heard Megadeth - Blood of Heroes?
When I started collecting in 5th Grade (1993-ish), I was a more-bang-for-your-buck kinda kid, and spent my $5 a week or so on 25-50 centers, or the 2 for $1.50 What If..'s. My first "lot" consited of All-Star Squadron, Elementals, Super Powers, and The Legion of Super-Heroes, I slowly got into What If, the X-Title's and Marvel comics presents. Somehow I got a Bloodshot #6, EW #10, and X-O #25... as an introduction to Valiant, they didn't particularly interest me, X-O was cool, but with the Armorines smack in the middle, my fragile mind was left mostly confused. Having some interest in X-O, I picked up Armorines #8 (The one where they're teamed with Aric, I believe it's the second part in a storyline?), but the outerspace aspect didn't really get me... I was a Dinosaur kid, not a Space-type, too bad I didn't find any Turok issues, or that might have jump started my collection? After Armorines, I didn't pay attention to Valiant, a few years later, I stoped collecting, mostly cause I didn't get the second half of Onslaught V.S. X-Men... I still wanna get that damned comic. Years later (probably 6-7 years ago), in Texas, visiting my brother, I got bored, and picked up a "value pack" thing of comics. I dunno what the deal was, but they were in sealed plastic, cosisting mostly of Death Mate comics, but one came with Magnus #25, and one with X-O #25, I bought a few after the first, they were only like $2.95 for I think 3 books, and a card. (I think?) Those strange Grab-bag type things of Death Mate are what got me back into Valiant. Strange considering most people don't like DeathMate, but I liked the odd storyline, and liked it even more after I became familiar with the Valiant characters, plus I liked the water colors used in some issues.
Ok the Subject has nothing to do with the story, but I figured people knew what this post would be about, seeing as it's in the "My Valiant Story" section.... and wanted to point people in the direction of one of my favorite bands, that so happens to have a song that's name has something in common with my favorite comic company, and character... woot ...

Yeah, I bought Risk, it was the cassette, so it was cheaper, but still... the name speaks for itself, it's a "Risk" buying that album. But I did recently download a song called "Prince of Darkness" by Megadeth, and was suprised that I liked it, and that it's on Risk. I think Megadeth's "Risk" is the equivalent of Metallica's "St. Anger"... not that either band stole ideas from the other, just equal dissapointments from both bands.
But I did wonder about "Blood of Heroes" origins, after all Anthrax wrote "I Am The Law" and it's based on Judge Dredd, who in my opinion doesn't hold a candle to Bloodshot, let alone the Rai "bloodline".

This is sort of off topic but my old band wrote a song called Sound of Violence, about the Punisher that I wrote the lyrics for. I believe it's still posted on the music page of the website (actually I think I'm still on the website, they haven't done a whole lot since I left) you can check it out at

bet you can't guess where we got our band name from...
