In 1992 I was spending a lot of time with my cousin since his Dad had bailed on him and his Mom. I was 10 years older and trying to connect with him. He really loved comics and got me to bring him to a comic store one day. He was really into the new Image books. While he was making his choices, I came across a book entitled XO Manowar. Thought the cover was cool so I opened it and began to read. WOW! I was blown away by both the story and the art work. I had never purchased a comic before but I jumped right in with both feet and bought issues 1-5. The next day I went back and bought the issues of all the other Valiant books available. I was hooked right then and there. I continued to collect all Valiant and nothing but Valiant till the end came with Acclaim and how they just destroyed the books and characters I loved so much.

So I quit collecting. After buying and reading every issue of every book in Series 1. It was over. I never bought another comic again.......until........

Walking Dead. What a great show. I really loved the characters and stories surrounding them. I was never much of a zombie fan but I was hooked. I learned that the show was based on a comic book and decided to check them out. I went into my LCS on a hot, Summer Wednesday in 2012 and picked up a couple of TPBs of the Walking Dead. I wandered over to the New Books section and could not believe my eyes, XO Manowar issue #1. OMG How did this happen? It was fate that I walked into the store that very day. I picked up the book and got that very same feeling I did 20 years earlier.

It's been two years now and again, I have all the issues of all the titles. I'm loving comics again thanks to the rebirth of Valiant. I even volunteered my time at the Boston Comic Con earlier in the month, working in the Valiant booth with Atombomb and Dinesh, helping to spread love for these books. I sure hope that they last this time around and I'm pretty sure they will with those guys aboard. My comic store manager would hate to lose my business.

Welcome to the boards! It's fun here as long as you steer clear of the Canadians - they seem nice, but no one is that Nice, are they? They're evil!

I haven't read it but just looked it up on Wikipedia. Sounds interesting and as usual the US is being blamed for the Apocalypse. Oh well, we get that a lot.

East of West is great. I asked because I feel it is my personal responsibility to get all new members reading this awesome book.

I look forward to your participation in this crazy family of Valiant nuts.

Because we are the only ones that could actually pull it off. Most other countries could basically crap in their own nest and that is about it.
