I just finished Starlight #1 by Mark Millard. I think this one has real potential. I'd say it's the story of Flash Gordon if he returned to Earth and lived a normal life for 30 years. The back page calls it "Buzz Lightyear meets Unforgiven ". I could see that.

Not a lot happened in #1, but I still felt compelled to give it 5 stars and subscribe immediately.

Anyone else read this?

I read it. Taking a wait and see attitude. I don't think the first issue told us enough about what to expect going forward.

Originally he called it "Flash Gordon meets Unforgiven" in the early interviews, and the promo images were a lot more blatant about the Flash Gordon connection.

https://imagecomics.com/content/view/in ... d-universe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has the covers for #1 as they were originally intended to look. The villain looked more like Ming at first, too. I assume they got changed because the owners of Flash Gordon felt it was too similar.

Picked up the first issue of this on FCBD and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I'll pick up the first arc and see how it goes. I know I have a little catching up to do - is it better/still enjoyable/the same/worse since the first issue?

I’m enjoying this comic. It's slow but pretty much everything Mark Millar writes is pretty slow.

Just got issues 2-4 and blew through them in one sitting all tonight. Never really read anything from Millar but I'm sticking with Starlight for the next few issues. It is a little bit slow building up but still I find it very enjoyable. Makes me think of Star Wars, Flash Gordon and Gran Torino at the same time.

I enjoyed it when I've read it. It's Millar though so...waiting for the shoe to drop any moment now.

You guys know that this is a 6 issue series? There we only 2 issues left . This series is nothing more than a movie pitch for Millar, as it has already been picked up by a movie studio.

I LOVED issue 1, liked issues 2 and 3, and hated issue 4. As there are only two issues left, I have decided to drop the book and sold my copies on eBay.

I added this and MPH by millar to my pull list. Haven't read MPH yet, but I am enjoying Starlight. Like you guys said, its kinda slow, but pretty good.

Mini or ongoing, I don't really care. I like all of what I have read from Millar (although not much)
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

It is unfortunate but this happens from time to time.

That is what all of Millar's creator-owned books are.

If it's already been picked up by a movie studio, why not wait to sell and make a little more cash?
