NYC and Valiant
I'll be in NYC starting Saturday for the NY Toy Fair. What good comic stores are in Manhattan that support/cary Valiant stuff? Looking at checking some stuff out while I'm there.
Thanks.
Kyle

You can try Midtown Comics (uptown) & Forbidden Planet (downtown) as two of the biggest shops with extensive inventory. However, when it comes to Valiant back issues you may have a journey on your hands.
I've personally frequented these stores and many more looking for such, but they just ain't around this city
but try as you may, one never knows

There should be a post around here about stores in your area and I believe it goes into some length about NYC stores.

You best bet is Jim Hanleys Universe - there are at least 3 comic book stores around 34th St few blocks from the Javits - including JHV - so happy hunting. I doubt you'll find any though. I've tried myself - all those overstiock were sold to this guy in the late 90's http://www.garydolgoffcomics.com/. He called all the local NYC stores and bought their overstock at 2 cents a pop. He repackaged them for 99 cents stores. There will be a lot of local comic book stores rep at the show - ideal for networking..

Sorry, but unless the stores have restocked, fellow board member escaflown and I have cleared them all out (and I mean all of them!). There is one store downtown that pays attention to its back issue stock so there may have been some restocking there, I can't think of the name right now but it's near Union Square, could be Time something or other, not sure, but it's a fan favorite, maybe Esca knows what it's called.
As for Forbidden Planet, unfortunately they no longer have the extensive back issues they once did!!!! I know, it was a shock to me too, but they moved out of their two (or was it three) story location into another much smaller space, and they sold their back issue inventory to Joe K. in Brooklyn, I believe. I remember when I was in college back in the 80s going into FP and it had to be one of the largest back issue stores I'd ever seen! The smell of the old books, the creaking of the wooden floorboards as you moved from box to box, pulling out low-grade readers of your favorite titles for fifty cents or a buck each, lots of good memories.

I can believe that if it's a good deal and it's in NYC then escaflown has already been there and gone. He ranks up there with Dino and Wrunow as fellow board members who find the most amazing books well below current prices. They are machines I tell you!!! MACHINES!!mrwoogieman wrote:Sorry, but unless the stores have restocked, fellow board member escaflown and I have cleared them all out (and I mean all of them!).
