Weird question that popped into my head. Need opinions.

Everything else comic-related that's not VALIANT-related.

Weird question that popped into my head. Need opinions.

Post by tchalla8 »

I buy a few Marvel Now comics, and I'm thinking of converting to digital and liquidating my Marvel books by dumping them on ebay cheap. So here's my question. Is a book still considered near mint if the digital code from the book has been used? What's everyone's opinion on this? If I use the code to get the digital copy before I sell, can I still advertise my book as near mint? I don't want people to think I've screwed them over if they are expecting a digital code in addition to a near mint book.

I would say since it has absolutely nothing to do with the physical condition of the actual book it's still NM.

But the sticker is missing. Does CGC remark about this when they grade newer Marvel books?

Ah I didn't know anything about a sticker, I haven't purchased a Marvel "floppy" since about 1994/95

You definitely need to disclose it. Grade it as near mint, but make sure to qualify it that the sticker is gone. Make it very, very apparent or you run the risk of having very *SQUEE* buyers.

As far as how CGC will disclose it, I'd think they'd probably give it a green label. I think that's what they do for the ASM 238s missing the tattooz. This is similar.

Once you take that sticker off, there's no getting it back on.

Not only express the fact the sticker is gone, but most certainly express that the digital code is no longer valid (if you did indeed use it or gave it away).

As for the condition, a comic can remain NM with items missing as long as they were not part of the comic (IE coupons/Marvel stamps/etc ...). Inserts have no bearing on the condition of the comic, however they can at times, change the value of the comic.

I actually have asked CGC about this. It will still get a blue label and it's normal grade, but they will note that the sticker has been removed on the label.

Also, if you were to sell them raw, I would suggest disclosing it. People will still buy them because they prefer floppies, but I can almost guaranty that there will be someone who complains if you don't
