DCBS has dropped price on Valiant variants.

Post by nscc »

Hi,

I don't buy variants at all but for those who do, DCBS has the 1:20's on for $10 and the 1:50s for $25. Unless it's a mistake since they switched their site to latest months books.

Anyway, might be worth it for those that do get the variants. :D
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

I've shopped with them for 5 years, so I love to be able to get the Variants through them as well. Was able to budget in every one this month due to the lower prices. So happy

Yeah, I've been looking for a new online comic book store since Heavy Ink raised their shipping from $1 to I think $6. While DCBS also charges $6 for shipping their discounts are way deeper than Heavy Ink's ever were, so it makes it more palatable to me.

Nice to see the prices coming down on those.

Hopefully everyone will flock to DCBS just to get these variants and the prices will rocket back up again.

I agree with Sean. If you are going to order the variants, would you please consider ordering the regular and pullbox variant. That way we can hopefully keep these variant prices down. Every little bit helps

I noticed that too. I don't think its a mistake. Their prices were always quite a bit more than I could get them for on the bay on day of release. Usually including shipping.

I've been ordering from them for a few years now and while their prices are great, boy does their website suck. Recent upgrades have helped the layout when ordering variants, but the search engine doesn't work properly most of the time (today's response to an search for "Iron Man" yielded "There has been an error"... no *SQUEE*, what else is new?), and basically anytime you navigate to any screen other than your order, it logs you out. Even basic functionality sucks like logging in... if you hit tab to the next field, your login just vanishes.

The site has done stuff like this for years - whoever coded it must be a programming clown or something. LOL!

I agree and currently experience much of the same. But if I just stick to my pull box purchases, I enjoy the cost savings. I do like the new way DCBS separates out the variants from the regular pull list.

The one thing that I do not like about DCBS is that their 'pull list' is not a fire and forget option. You still need to get on the website on or about the 15th of every month to generate your 'pull list' and then filter out what you don't want (i.e. variants, combo packs, etc). I would like the option to input that I want every regular issue and every pull box variant and have it sent to me every month. On a few occasions, I've forgotten to log-in and place my order. It would be nice to have it as an automatic option is all.

They are really good about damaged issues as I've written detailed emails about what books were damaged, how disappointed I was, and how it got me about as close to a gnat's @$$ hair away from dropping them as I could be... only to get an email with a full apology and subsequent package replacing all of my damaged books (and possibly another book or two for my discomfort) !!

Just checked back and their variants have gone back up in price for the pre-orders. However, I logged into my account and the order I placed is still showing the prices from when I ordered. So, good for all of us that hopped on this when we did.

Not so good about them raising the prices, but glad you and the others got them when ya did. Hopefully they don't make any changes to the order before the charge goes through.

As expected, I knew that the Variants will go back up to their regular prices.

I'm curious if anyone knows, where does DCBS sell their over purchased regular/pullbox books.

They sell variants with pre-orders, so they must have an outlet for all the unsold issues.

Just the functional equivalent of "sold out" for them, I imagine. They probably have tentative orders for the regular books, which allow then to order a certain number of each variant. Once they get variant orders in excess of these amounts, any father variants would require them to order an additional 20, 50 books, etc. that they don't have preorders for the underlying regular books. So it makes perfect sense that the formula changes (they do use a formula for variant pricing). And the extra books cost money to ship and process and they may not sell those. My takeaway from this is to order day 1.

DCBS just emailed me that the 1:50s would be limited to only 1 per customer. Bummer.

I got the email on the 1:50s, but also got one saying that the Mack 1:20 was also limited to only 1 per customer.

So people were ordering more than 1 copy of the 1:50's? I was happy ordering just 1 of everything, so this didn't affect me. But I hope nobody that was ordering extra copies were doimg it for buddies or people on the boards.
