Which publishers do you find yourself reading the most? For me, I seem to read mostly Dynamite and Image. I've never been a fan of DC, and have recently given up on Marvel. Personally, the universe is too large to try and keep up with everything. I even tried reading just X books, and even that is so interwoven it's hard to keep track. Oh well. Indies for me!

Marvel and Dynamite for me. Neither one as much as I was reading from them a year ago. Way, way less DC than I was a year or two years ago.

Only current books I read are valiant and TWD and Chew.
There are other books I collect on the cheap that I try to get a chunk
Of and then read, like Invincible and Bprd.

It seems I read mostly Image these days. Only DC I read are Batman and Detective. Marvel is Captain America and Indestructible Hulk.

A few books from Image regularly (Saga, Chew, Manhattan Projects), and I try some Marvel/DC books from time to time usually just to be disappointed when they get cancelled.

Going to trade wait Young Avengers and Hawkeye (really good, but short on the page count so I'll wait). Might give Stormwatch another try with Jim Starlin on board.

I also have been reading Locke & Key from IDW, but the last volume is ending soon. Probably going to try their THUNDER Agents series whenever that comes out.

When I returned to comics in 2011: mainly DC due to the New 52. Followed, like 9 books compared to 6 Marvel.

Now: Mainly Marvel (especially since I grew up liking Marvel more). At this point, about 10 Marvel books compared to 6 DC books.

As for other non-Valiant, was getting 2 BOOM! titles but reduced it to just Hypernaturals. I planned on 4 Image books in the first half of time last year - Alpha Girl, Peter Panzerfaust, Saga, and Danger Club - but now I'm reduced to just Danger Club if and when #5 comes out. Although, on Comixology, I do exhibit more variety.

For you guys that read titles of direct-competitor publishers to Valiant; IDW, Boom, etc., how do you find them? I've never read books from the small guys and wonder what the books are about, and whom they're geared toward. I only have a couple Image books on my pull-list, since I just started collecting Valiants again in 2005, and am now just reading comics again for the first time in twenty years I'm oblivious to what's out there (feel like I missed out on the popular Image titles like TWD, Chew, Invincible, etc.).

I love how I'm not the only one who just made their way back into comics after a 20 year hiatus. What does that say about us? IS Valiant a completely different breed? Is it not a typical comic book company? To make us quit comics, and then make us pick them back up again? Crazy!
And what's the deal with BPRD? I have seen a ton of people recommend that. Is that Hellboy related?

I like some of the licensed books that are being done these days over the superhero books that i've burned out of after collecting Marvel and DC for 20 years. IDW is pretty fun even with the $4 price tag and dozens of variants. Dark Horse Star Wars is always reliable. And new Image is fun to get even though there's a new number #1 every week. I sampled some of the early VEI but couldn't get into it.

Varies from book-to-book. For example, I enjoy The Sixth Gun from Oni (which I get digitally), a supernatural western. I also enjoy Boom's Hypernaturals, which is similar to DC's Legion of Superheroes.

I will state that while IDW and Boom's libraries are diverse and include superhero and non-superhero books (IDW with Memorial and 30 Days of Night, Boom has Fanboys vs Zombies to name a few), a bulk of their catalog and/or success are attributed with licensed properties. IDW has books for Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Judge Dredd, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Rocketeer, and Hasbro's toys (GI Joe, Transformers, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic). Boom's success is due to the adaptations of Adventure Time, an animated series on Cartoon Network. Licensed books aren't bad and IDW does diversify their books like continuing the storylines from the old Marvel GI Joe and Transformers books.

I'm another who returned after an almost 20 year hiatus. Since the mid 90's i've only bought some TPB's here and there. Valiant totally brought me back.

Other than Valiant i've been reading mostly Image stuff like TWD, Chew, Saga, and Revival.

Its odd i started strictly DC about 2 years ago and slowly started putting those down to get more indy's
Critter, saga, revival ect, reading the boys and 100 bullets at the moment and catching up on invincible
DC and marvel milk their big names too much like why is spiderman and superman around for 70 years in the spotlight..
come on its up to us to change that!
pull list:green lantern*swamp thing*Animal man*Earth 2*Dial H*I,Vampire*Justice league*The Boys*
Batman (inc)*Earth 2*All-star western*saga*revival*Ursa minor*Critter*X-O Manowar*Harbinger*Bloodshot*Archer& Armstrong

Only Avengers and New Avengers by Hickman. And only then for the New Universe tie-ins. Other than that, only the Valiant!

Hmmmmm.....

I think now I'm reading

1 DC (Batman)
2 Marvel (just dropped a bunch of books, including Avengers)
2 IDW (basically TMNT, and whatever Danger Girl mini is out at any given point)
5 Valiant (but I'm iffy - I love Archer and Armstrong, Shadowman looks great each month, Bloodshot is probably great, but I think I've read one of them so far, and X-O is boring me to death. I hate the Spider aliens, so I'm probably dropping X-O around issue 12 and I won't make up my mind about Bloodshot until I sit there and read them all. Harbinger is good from what I've read, but I think I've only read maybe three of them so far because it was a slow start, although the newest issue with Torque was really good, so who knows?)

Right now my pull list consists of:

Valiant all titles (until they get too many for me to afford)
Image (Manhattan Projects, Chew, TWD, Invincible, and I'll probably be adding East of West when it comes out)
Marvel (Avengers and New Avengers - I'm a little Hickman obsessed right now)
DC (Before Watchmen - which is all but finished; I'll be getting Before Sandman whenever it comes out)

I'm liking Nowhere Men, but I haven't added it to my pull list yet. I have a feeling I'll be dropping it soon. I mentioned elsewhere that it just seems like a variation on Fringe. Unless it gets less predictable soon, I'm not going to keep reading it. I'll probably give it at least 3 or 4 more issues.

Saga I don't read because it has too much explicit sex/nudity for me.

Bedlam: I really liked the first issue, but I've tried several times to read the second issue, and I've fallen asleep after 1-2 pages. This is a sign that I'm not that interested.
