XO Manowar #9 Discussion
What an awesome issue! Great action, plus more insight into why Shanhara in Aric's possession is so dangerous to The Vine. Hairsine does a great job, espescially in that brutal closing fight scene.
All this plus:
Gafti!
Orb!
SVEN!

Re: XO Manowar #9
Had we seen any indication of Orb Industries up to this point?
Great issue. Finally some foes that Aric can be challenged by. While Ninjak was getting his goat for different reasons, the combined X-O Commandos were bringing the very physical battle that I think we've all been waiting for... while it lasted, I mean. Slicey slicey.
Super curious to see how they will use Gafti against him. And is Alexander already suspecting that the armor can transport him to Loam?

That will be interesting.Keith wrote:

On the one hand it would be neat to see a second displaced Visigoth. Only this one won't have the benefit if speaking English or anything else Aric has learned from the armor.
On the other hand, his brain was all opened up and junk. How the *SQUEE* does he walk away from that?

I'm thinking maybe Gafti will be the 'replacement' XO the future issues herald... unless you guys know something I don't.

There was a brief glimpse of the Orb building in XO #5, but it was not named as such.Keith wrote:Had we seen any indication of Orb Industries up to this point?

I think Gafti is again doomed (though hopefully in a more heroic manner this time). The battle to regain his lost friend, and only contemporary, followed by his loss again, would be very powerful and might be the event that pushes Aric over the edge and to Loam.

Great issue. The scene with him being held with grappling tethers reminded me very much of the VH1 battle in Solar #7.

Re: XO Manowar #9 Discussion
Indeed it was a (yet again) fantastic issue. The art and action was great. I got a little giddy at the Orb building mention. What I liked the most is how the Vine is portrayed. The are like any other society, albeit extra-terrestrial. They are not presented as mindless creatures. They have tactics and a structure. Alexander mentioned that the Vine nurtured humanity. All this shows a complex Vine that is so much more than two dimensional.

Re: XO Manowar #9 Discussion
Wow, really great issue IMHO. The art was much better than I expected. IMHO better than Garbett, but not as good as Nord.
Loved the battle scene with the Vine Commando's. I am curious to see if VEI leaves a Commando suit of armor on earth. I wasn't a big fan of axe, but I liked the X-O Commando usage in the 4000 AD time period.
IMHO this is one of the best issues of X-O yet.

I'm also really glad I nabbed a pull-box variant... Really loving that Nord cover! SonicDan - is that on your art hit-list?

Great issue. There's lots of speculating about what will happen to Gafti, my guess is he doesn't live very much longer.
Also Sven was great. I laughed out loud.

Re: XO Manowar #9 Discussion
I'm guessing they are either going to put Gafti in a Commando armor or somehow (due to his close genetic relationship to Aric) he will find himself, temporarily in the Manowar armor. Maybe he will get absorbed into the armor and become integrated with its systems. I don't know...just speculating.
