Will that alter the long term value? Or is it just a guy selling off stuff for quick money and it will only be a blip?

Actually, that's a large dealer who does this quite often.

His prices change frequently, I've purchased CGC 9.8 books from him as low as $24.99 with free shipping.

I don't think he still submits a ton of Valiant common issues for CGC grading, so these are likely his unsold books from the past few years.

According to their website, they mainly deal in pre-1980 collections of thousands of books.
http://showcasene.com/Sell.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's likely that these were not a serious investment for the dealer, and as long as he gets someting close to the grading costs back, he's probably already way ahead.

Showcase New England has been liquidating CGC's for a few months now. Give it time and a lot of them will be on sale in those listings. I've been watching several of their Iron Man listings for several weeks now.

I am SUPER tempted to pick one up just because I've never even held a slab, but I'm fairly certain if I purchase anything else my gf is going to strangle me.

I'm tempted too. It'd be nice to have a 9.8...must resist.

Waaaaay better than $50 to $60... but you'll have to pay shipping, which is likely $8 to $12 extra.
Free shipping is only for 10 slabs or more.

Here are some Valiant books that look like a pretty good deal at $21.99:
Eternal Warrior #9 (first appearance of the Book of the Geomancer): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544092262" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Harbinger #9 (birth of Magnus, Unity issue): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544096224" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
HARDCorps #30 (final issue): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544096828" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Rai Trade Paperback: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041519585" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Shadowman #4 (first Elya, Jack's love from the 41st century, Unity issue): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544107207" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Shadowman #7 (first Master Darque dialogue, but he is not shown): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041520317" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Solar #22 (green label, signed by Joe Quesada): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544109083" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Visitor #13 (last issue, Visitor unmasked): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544119324" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
X-O Manowar #10 (cover is symbolic of the 2012 return of Valiant): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041534937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
X-O Manowar #25 (includes Armorines #0): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041534983" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Connection to Valiant 2013+ possibles:
Bloodshot #5 (speculative, combines Bloodshot, Eternal Warrior, and Rai stories - possible Valiant 2013 theme?): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544084027" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
X-O Manowar #12 (speculative, if Valiant brings back Randy Cartier, it's her first appearance): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041534951" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Non-Valiant:
Warriors of Plasm #1 (Jim Shooter, Defiant): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121041528629" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Wolverine #75 (with hologram, has adamantium ripped out): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360544121567" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ARGH I can't believe it. I've been watching these go on and off sale for weeks and just now I had all of the pages lined up to buy about 20 CGC's and AS I was getting the windows in order to click all of the "buys" they took the sale prices off! WTF?

Weird. $21.99 plus shipping is fair for these... maybe they didn't mean to kill the sale... or maybe they didn't want to go right to $21.99, so they'll do a smaller discount on the way down to $21.99.

Naah, honestly I've been watching those listings for weeks. They are liquidating for some reason and have been for a while now. I've had those Iron Man books on my watch list for some time now, meaning to pull the trigger. The sales have ended and I forget, but then they re-list at the liquidation price, and this pattern has gone on for at least a month and a half. The sale ends, and then they relist it - the only thing is that this time is they pulled the pricing before the sale end date.

Also, it's wild they are doing this. I honestly wonder if they are closing shop - they've even taglined that "everything must go". I've bought books from Showcase New England for years now. I stopped only across the last couple years because their pricing starting getting out of control for what are otherwise relatively lame issues in a high grade.

I would have cleaned out their Valiants LONG ago but they refuse to ship to Canada, so the hell with them.

FWIW...

I purchased a CGC 9.8 Solar, Man of the Atom 11 from Showcase-New England several years ago and never received it in the mail. I contacted the seller after 2 weeks and informed him of the situation. He said it shouldn't have taken that long and refunded the money back into my Paypal shortly thereafter. He asked me to ship the comic back to him if it ever arrived. I thought that was pretty honest (and somewhat naive) of him. I would have sent it back to him if I received it but it never came to me. I ended up purchasing another copy a few days later.

I think they are just clearing out some slow movers. I mean seriously, who would even pay $5.00 for this book:

Looks like he is doing free shipping if you buy 10. If I am holding stuff for you guys anyway and you want to work something out, send me a PM.

Also, try to email Dan and ask him directly.

I believe you can get a better price by going through them directly as well. Outside of ebay. I bought many slabs from them before they started liquidating always took about 7-9 days to get them but always came well packed and perfect slabs.

I offered to buy 10 more from him at $15 each (after buying 10 at $21 to get the free shipping) and he did not take me up on it, so there is not too much room there contacting them directly. $21 each is below break even already.
