PSI-FORCE Last issue

Flipping through the old Buck bin at the LCS, and came across five copies of the PSI-Force #32. Anyone interested, let me know.

That is tempting - however, I still haven't gotten around to collecting PSI-Force yet. I have most of the other NU runs (except Kickers). I've been tempted many times to start picking it up...

Any chance you've seen the last issue of Starbrand in there?

I think I saw one. Interested? I know they had at least another copy of the psi-Force. Most of the others are easy to find. A few of the last issues are buggers.

DP 7 #32 is probably the most valuable NU issue.

Dang - that would have been sweet to finish off Starbrand...

By any chance are there any Justice issues there? I am still hunting for 15[***big time want this one!***] & 20, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30...

JUSTICE was slim. But there WAS a STAR Brand 19.

No DP7.

Ok, I'm confused a bit... If there still is a Starbrand 19, I will gladly pay you shipping et. al. if you pick it up for me - let's make it worth the cost of shipping and I'll go for the Psi-Force 32, and any Justice if there happens to be some from my wish list. And no rush, just whenever you happen to be there and have time to root through. Were there any other Psi-Force issues as well?

I just caved and filled in the rest of my Justice set via mycomicshop on ebay... I usually like to hunt for this stuff in person, but they had every issue I was missing. Can't wait to dive into reading the full set at long last! :D

Mmmmm, sounds like fun. I used to have every issue of DP7, Psi-Force, Starbrand, and Justice but lost them in a move. I always found it interesting that from the start, I never was interesed in Kicker, or Spitfire, Nightmask, or Merc, and then one year in those were all the series that got cancelled. I picked GOOD! I have re-collected some of them but I'm far from a complete set of any of them. I remember how much I loved these stories and characters back in the day. Really not surprising that I fell for Valiant comics for all the same reasons.

Unlike many others, I actually loved the reboot Marvel did with NewUniversal a few years ago. I would have loved to see that series continue, or at least come to a proper end instead of stopping halfway through due to a computer crash erasing Warren Ellis' story files. I always thought that was a lame excuse. I mean, if you are working on a great story like that, do you just forget what all your ideas were when you type them on the computer? Oh well, at least I have new Valiant to read now. And any day now I should be getting my monthly shipment of last months comics. Only a month to wait for Shadowman #1! :(

I can remember seeing them - and thinking it was a stupid idea when they came out. As I am reading them, I'm really enjoying the reads - both as reads - and hopefully dated icons of the time. Some are TOUGH terrible reads, but many of them are surprisingly excellent. The best 'bad' read so far has been Spitfire. The first issue was lost... But all since have been quite good.

I don't know yet how PSI-Force or Justice survived - but it's easy to see why Kickers was abandoned.

Online stores should have all the NU issues you're missing. They aren't scarce like other issues. I usually fill holes from Mile High but I mainly buy back issues from Mycomicshop. Click the link on my signature and it'll take you to mycomicshop.

Being a big fan of Spitfire, I just can't understand why you hated it so much initially, Kevin [and I've listened to your podcasts, too]. I'm a bit biased, because I have always had a soft spot for robots... but it wasn't all that bad a premise! Kickers is hands down the worst of them, and I also agree with you on Justice, at least - it was kind of flighty until Peter David took over, IMO. Still haven't read a single PSI-Force.

Quite the opposite. I DO like Spitfire. I just thought that the first issue was VERY weak. I didn't like the LOOK of the giant robot - and the covers - at least where I am through - are terrible.

But the story - and the characters - are excellent. An excellent read. In fact, where I am now, I would have KEPT Spitfire, and cancelled both PSI-Force - but ABSOLUTELY cancelled Justice. I just can't get it yet at all. The dream sequence seems like a bad drug trip.

Ah, good to hear. I have to catch up to your most recent podcasts - what NU issue numbers are you at in your read-thru? I'll agree with you that the Spitfire covers are not the greatest, though I do like #4 [McFarlane],#5 [the Starbrand cross-over], #10 & #13 quite a bit. The others are weak to downright awful [I say #3 is my least favourite, followed by #8]. I think I've said this before, but I personally got obsessed with the look of the MAX unit back then, even the original version - I used to draw it constantly, and used variations of the design in my own comics.

I think you'll appreciate the direction change in Justice when you get there [#15]. I still haven't read that one, but I have many of them after [just waiting on that shipment of the rest, now] and I think its a big improvement. Its a bit more in line with Ellis' interpretation of the character in the New Universal series.

Got my shipment of Justice issues yesterday from mycomicshop.com [via ebay].

I'm a little disappointed though, because I thought I was completing my set with this purchase and as it turned out, they didn't have a copy of #25 or #28 even though they were listed as BIN's. I got a refund for those, but now I'll have to continue the hunt. I'm still going to sit down and read through what I have, because I finally have #15!! Been waiting many years to find that one.

And thanks to Kevin, I now have a Starbrand #19 to look forward to... can't wait to sit & read the full run of that tile for the first time! [I've had 1-15 for years, but waited on re-reading it until I had all 19]

I think Marvel should have ended PSI-Force at #25.
