Was SDCC a secret society?!
Right I've been trying to trawl through the topics here to get some Valiant news from SDCC but all I can find is-
-There were new variants.
-Variants are getting better paper.
-And eventually, hopefully, in the future they are aiming for 15-18 titles. (The only piece which is news worthy).
I don't necessarily want to know all the nanny boo boo NDA 'you weren't there man' bullplop but what was the actual news from the panel and from the con???

There should be a new announcement on a new book and creative team soon. They made it sound like really, reallly soon so maybe along with the next line of solicits, maybe?ian_house wrote:Right I've been trying to trawl through the topics here to get some Valiant news from SDCC but all I can find is-

They have plans to collect and reprint stuff from VH1.
That's about it that was useful from the "I have info, but I'm not gonna tell you because it's super secret so I probably shouldn't have said anything in the first place, but I did because I could, but I'm still not gonna tell you" discussion.

Re: Was SDCC a secret society?!
Nice one cheers dude. Where you there? Was it not like most other panels with back to back news then, just more of a hello we're valiant jobby?
I thought we would have heard about creative teams, upcoming storylines, hints about which characters we've already seen but not noticed or new characters. Maybe a hint about an original product or build up to the first event.

Nah. I'm in Florida.
I think Doc Solar was working on getting a video of the panel up so the panel should be available to see soon. It wasn't an official "Valiant" panel, but the one that they did in Charlotte for Heroes didn't really reveal any info that wasn't available here on this site. So.... so far, their panels aren't really used for breaking news and whatnot and they never say anything publicly about potential storylines because the editors and writers look over to Dinesh and then realize they can't say anything.
The panels have had about 50-75 people from my understanding so I don't know if that would be worth breaking any news there anyway. They aren't huge like the big company panels. As discussed on OTV, the real info happens at the poker game. Maybe they should just play poker and drink beer at their panels and then there would be actual news.

Here's the panel.

There was really no news, other than the gold book program. That was the big news from the show.
Yes, some of us got some info about an upcoming book, and were asked not to talk about it. It wasn't a big sharing club, I had to hear about the next title second hand. We'll all see the announcement soon.
This year was a lot more laid back than last year. Even at poker, this year was much more about hanging out and having a good time, than us giving them an interrogation about what is coming up.

Also, if it was a secret society, you would have never heard about it
It was a meeting/party. You were invited, but you didn't show up

10 minutes. I'm impressed with the rapid posting of random cow dresses. Followed up 4 minutes later by a mug shot of a guy in a cow suit. The internet is a wondrous and strange entity. (At least I'm hoping neither of you just had those sitting on your hard drives for other reasons.)
