Big WOW Con report
Just got back from San Jose and the BIG WOW convention this two day show is one small wing of the San Jose convention center. It's NOT a 2 day show (meaning there isn't enough to warrant this being a 2 day show) . I'm thrilled that there were plenty of dealers selling comics. In fact I would say 65% of all the tables selling items were selling books. Nice change IMO.
First off LOTS of convention buyers looking and buying Valiant. If a dealer brought books (worth buying) then they were picked over. There were also deals to be had.
NOT 1 copy of VEI X-O Manowar #1 was on the convention floor. Not a variant AJA cover or the QR cover.
I wore my Bloodshot VEI shirt and was told countless times they love the new direction Valiant is going in.
I ran into Dr. Solar and Iggy & Man Of The Atom plus several other people that read the boards but don't post completing there VH-1 collections.
I found the following stuff.
Alpha & Omega HC in NM for $12.00
These I found for either .25 each or .50 cents each
Rai #0
Turok #0 (3 copies)
Turok Timewalker #1 & 2 (2 copies of #1, 3 copies of #2)
Turok VH-2 #1-4 (monthly)
Original Turok #1
Turok Tales of the lost land
Turok The Empty Souls (variant cover)
Turok #37, 41-46
X-O #15 (pink variant)
Bloodshot #1 VH-2 Variant
X-O Manowar VH-2 #3 & 10
Deathmate Preview Advance Comics
Shadowman VH-2 #9 & 10
X-O Manowar #59, 60, 63
Eternal Warriors Digital Alchemy
Harbinger #10
Rai #31
Quantum & Woody #11
Eternal Warrior #1
I picked these up for $1.00 each
Harbinger #5 & 6
Bloodshot VH-2 #16
Bloodshot #40
Non Valiant related purchases that were also $1 each
Grimm Fairy Tales #33, 36-38
Grimm Fairy Tales April Fools Edition #1
Fables #6 (2 copies), 8-10
Dan Brereton was also at the show and I had him sign this bad boy. He said it was the first one has has signed

Bob Layton was great as usual. He didn't bat an eye at the 60+ issues I had him sign for something coming up
Micheal Golden was also at the show and I had him sign the A&A HC dustjacket
Had the whole family at the show so I didn't get to hang out with the guys very much at all. That's going to change at SDCC
Things I saw at the show...
X-O Manowar #1 at $50
Magnus #1 $10
Rai #1 $8
Rai #3 $15
Magnus #64 $10
Harbinger TPB Blue $5.00
NO gold issues, retailer reviews, Unity Red, Didn't see Harbinger Pink key issues like Solar #10
I think this show can get bigger I'm glad they moved to a good location and not in that damn Army bunker they had it in when it was called Super-con.

Re: Big WOW Con report
Great seeing you, Dr. Solar, and Man of the Atom (the new one).
I spent a lot of time digging through the bargain boxes. Some Valiants (for $0.50 or less) I found included: Acclaim X-O, Acclaim Bloodshot, A&A 0, A&A 1, Harbinger 41. I found some awesome non-Valiants in the bargain boxes: TWD Weekly 1-10 (less #2) for $1 each, X-Men 128 & 129 (1st Fantomex app and cover), X-Factor 24 (1st Archangel) for $0.50 each. Also picked up some stuff I want to start to read for $0.50 each - Immortal Iron Fist, Authority.
Talked briefly with Bob Layton and got a sketch of Phil Seleski from him. He also signed a few colored Solar Alpha & Omega OA pages and he also signed Dr Tomorrow model sheets.
I will post some pics next week.
I got a 2-day pass so I will be going back tomorrow. Hopefully BTE missed some Valiant bargain books.

Re: Big WOW Con report
You didn't see any Solar 10s because I bought the only one there, from sckao
This was a really fun show, just what I needed, a fun day to pour through boxes of comics.
In addition to walking and hangin with BTE a bit (even though he was being a dutiful husband and father, he still found some time to hang out), I also got to have lunch with Iggy and Man of the Atom (the newish member, not Mike
)
My big Valiant score was to get nice near mint copies of Harbinger 1, 2, and 5, with coupon, for a dollar each. Score!
I also picked up:
Solar 10
Rai 0
Bloodshot 1
Eternal Warrior 1
Eternal Warrior 4
Solar 60
Valiant Voice 5
Goat: Hadeus
My big purchases of the show were Tales of Suspense 52 (first Scarlett Johans... Err, Black Widow), and Weird Scinece-Fantasy 23 and 27.

Re: Big WOW Con report
It was nice to meet you guys.
Picked up that Harbinger TPB Blue for $4, and found a x-o manowar TPB Blue for $5.
I was pumped to have Bob Layton sign my H.A.R.D. CORPS #1.
Saw one copy of both the Nord and Ribic covers of x-o #1.

Re: Big WOW Con report
I went on day 2 and the crowd is smaller. I walked by Charles Yoakum's table multiple times today and just saw his name sign there. Then around 2 pm, his name sign is gone.
I brought my A&A HC and had Michael Golden sign it.
Not much in terms of Valiant finds. One vendor re-stocked his bargain bin and I found Shadowman 2-5 for $0.50 each. Also found some Acclaim Turok and other Acclaim titles I missed yesterday for $0.50 each.

Re: Big WOW Con report
Oh yeah, Jim Lee was there on Sunday but the line was looooong. I overheard someone say that she waited 4 hours in line but was totally worth it . . .
So no HARD Corps #1 and Deathmate signed by Jim Lee.

I'm sorry but I'm with you on this...
Jim Lee isn't worth standing in line 4 hours to get an autograph...

Re: Big WOW Con report
There was a Harbinger Pink #0 CGC 9.8 there. I had it on my rack...
I also had a couple more Solar #10s scattered in my boxes and 2 Solar #10 Reprints. Didn't really prepare at all for this convention so I didn't bring much of anything other than what boxes I grabbed. Gave away some Valiants to some smaller kids too actually including one kid who wanted to read Harbinger. I told him to come back Sunday and gave him a Harbinger TPB so he could read the story.
All in all, a nice small con actually. I was pleasantly surprised. (It's always nice to meet board members from here or the CGC boards. That's partly why we have booths. It's a natural drawing place for the Bay Area CGC people.)

Re: Big WOW Con report
Great to hear this sounds like a real comic book con.
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.
