Valiant / Image crossover?
Hey, didn't Image just relaunch some titles? Since we're replaying 1993 again, shouldn't we be clamoring for a Valiant / Image crossover extravaganza?
I've got my fingers crossed for the six-part publisher mashup. I was thinking that an appropriate name would be:
Cluster%^$#
It seems that all of the heroes from both universes are magically transported to a high school gymnasium. They can't stand each other and an endless Battle Royale breaks out. The Image heroes have the upper hand because of their superiority in pouch numbers... but just when all seems lost, the Valiant heroes notice that their Image foes have no feet!
The artistic premise is that creators from both publishing houses pen and draw all six issues. Then the individual panels are cut apart and drawn randomly from a hat until 24 pages are filled. And since there's no continuity, no need for issue numbers. Each of the six crossover gems will be names after a barnyard animal.
"I just bought a copy of Cluster%^$# Cow! I can't wait for the release of the next issue, Cluster%^$# Duck! I hear it will be ready in 2014!"
This thing's gonna be an unstoppable juggernaut. I'm purchasing one hundred copies of each issue. I'm going to have them graded by CGC and then permanently slabbed in a custom pour of Turtle-Wax and Nivea Skin Cream. Once properly buffed with a Sham-Wow, I'll have them entombed in cement blocks and lowered into a dry well in a secret location in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for safekeeping. My heirs will be rich!

Re: Valiant / Image crossover?
I want a Valiant / Image crossover about as much as I want cancer of the ballsack.
Unless it was like a Walking Dead/Shadowman crossover
that could work.
oh By the way. cluster"squee" # Duck will be on hiatus until 2067.

Re: Valiant / Image crossover?
I was 18 when Deathmate came out. I remember reading the Prelude and Deathmate Black. Didn't really make a huge impression on me, I found it uninteresting and did not read any more of them. If there had have been a more cohesive story, something with ramifications that went back to each specific universe that would've lasted more than a month, that woulda been cool. I guess Gen13 worked out, but then they got pretty stale after a while too.

Here stands a man of real vision!

I think Deathmate Redux is completely doable and would be a HUGE hit.

Re: Valiant / Image crossover?
I for one would love to see some crossovers in the future. If they did Deathmate I think of course it would totally need to be redone from the ground up. Probably not name it Deathmate either since that leaves a bad taste in so many peoples mouths.

See? It could be like a sequel and a reboot all rolled into one, with issues like Purple, Magenta, Teal, and Plaid.MoonChild wrote:Redux...well now that you put it like that...

We could call it Charlie Foxtrot. That would mean the same thing and could still be repeated in polite company. Like when girls come in to the comic book store.

Deathmate Black - 1st appearance of Gen 13 and Fairchild. And Fairchild is getting some play in the new DC 52 so maybe that book is now worth a quarter instead of a mere ten cents!MarrowMan wrote:Deathmate was an abortion. why won't it just die?etos45 wrote:See? Too bad they printed 800 000 000 000 000 000 copies.

Re: Valiant / Image crossover?
If you compare it the early Valiant runs, it's utter crap. But it was what it was: a product of the times. The two biggest upstart publishers in history teaming up in the hopes of sell a *SQUEE* load of books and make a ton of money. From that standpoint it was a complete success. And who DIDN'T want to see Rob Liefeld draw Bloodshot? I know I did

I guess we should just forget it happened.
