Does this mean there will actually be a Bloodshot movie or is this the same thing that happened with Harbinger?

I'm glad Brett Ratner never got close to playing with Harbinger I'm not a fan of his.BruceReville wrote:Indeed - Where's that Harbinger movie Brett Ratner was suppose to direct.magnusr wrote:Sure would be great if a movie was madeFormerReader wrote:Does this mean there will actually be a Bloodshot movie or is this the same thing that happened with Harbinger?

I hope that the movie gets released before a dozen rip off type of characters get to the big screen first. Just look at how many movies have been released with kids having Harbinger like abilities.

Re: Columbia Pictures acquires Bloodshot movie rights
I would love for Valiant to be able to go the Marvel Avengers route. Put out some films with individual characters that share a universe with the possibility of leading into a film featuring all of them. I hope they can avoid the situation Marvel has with X-Men and Spider-Man being optioned to other studios with never a crossover possible.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
Re: Columbia Pictures acquires Bloodshot movie rights
So there will be no announcement today apparently, though the movie info has leaked anyways. I'm not sure if they were going to announce the Bloodshot comic the same day as the movie news or if the movie news was the only HUGE news that was originally slated for today. Since the movie info has already leaked I think they should just announce the new title today instead and then re-plug the movie when it's official next week.
Oh and there was this little nugget in the story published:
"Valiant is returning to comic books in May 2012 and has a number of movie projects in development based on its characters involving some of the industry’s top business and creative talent."

Re: Columbia Pictures acquires Bloodshot movie rights
Marvel had enough assets to be able to afford their own studio to develop their own movies. This probably started while Peter Cuneo was in charge (and we all know where he is now). Of course Marvel is owned by the Mouse now and has no reason to license their characters to any studio.Heath wrote:I would love for Valiant to be able to go the Marvel Avengers route. It would be nice for VEI to get into this kind of situation, but I'll settle for X-O 1 in May which I think is gonna be great and see where they go from there. Of course this is great news.

I am selling "nothing" on ebay-yet.

Re: Columbia Pictures acquires Bloodshot movie rights
Ok - No "Official" word and the article says "Close To Making A Deal" - which means no deal has been done yet so until DINO - VEI - or someone with credibility other than a site I never heard of until today reports it - I am not getting any hopes up. I remember the hype about Harbinger and where did that go?

Here's another link about the Bloodshot movie:

deadline on 3/1/2012 wrote:Sony Pictures has closed a deal to acquire Bloodshot, the Valiant Comics series. The deal came out of a spec script written by Jeff Wadlow, who is being paid $450,000 against $1 million, I hear. Neal Moritz will produce through his Original Film Banner along with Jason Kothari and Dinesh Shamdasani for Valiant Entertainment.
Bloodshot originated in Valiant Comics form in 1992 and appeared in over 70 issues, becoming the cornerstone of the Valiant Universe. The protagonist is Angelo Mortalli, a ruthless killer for the mob who is set up by the family and framed for a murder. He instead goes into Witness Protection, but is betrayed by an FBI agent guarding him, kidnapped and forcibly subjected to an experimental program in which his body is injected with microscopic computers called nanites. They erase his brain and rebuild it and his body to be a weapon with superhuman strength and healing powers. Bloodshot escapes his makers, and though he isn’t his old self, he tries to figure out who he was. Things get bad for everybody who betrayed him. The project had been rumored as a possible directing vehicle for Matthew Vaughn, but he isn’t part of this equation.
The WME-repped Wadlow got this through his own entrepreneurial spunk. He loved the comic, and made an agreement with Valiant and Original Film to write it on spec. They showed it to Sony, where Moritz has his deal. The studio bought it.

I'm excited to hear more about this movie. It sound like a great step in the right direction. I wonder if the Harbinger movie will ever get made?

Re: Columbia Pictures acquires Bloodshot movie rights
Yeah, I understand all of that and know that VEI probably can't afford their own film studio. But I'd love for there to be more Valiant movies and for them all to be within the same continuity.wrunow wrote:Marvel had enough assets to be able to afford their own studio to develop their own movies. I want a Geomancer to awaken Bloodshot in the film. And that Geomancer, played by the same actor, be a companion of the Eternal Warrior in his movie. And then a cameo by the Eternal Warrior, played by the same actor, in the Harbinger movie. And then all of them appear together in the Harbinger Wars movie.
I think one of the strengths of the Valiant universe is the tight continuity - that all of the characters have direct and indirect impact on the characters in other books through their shared universe. I'd like that to continue to the movies. And I think it would be a shame if we ended up with a Bloodshot movie and an Eternal Warrior movie, and a Harbinger movie, and an XO movie, and a Shadowman movie, all at different studios and all in their own continuities with no impact on the others.
Just my

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
