Re: Previews
The LCS I go to said-despite an XO poster in the bottom corner of their window-that they would "believe that the company is printing books" when they see it in Previews. I wonder if they believe it now.

My 'Former' LCS (i'm now going 25 miles out of my way for a shop that will support Valiant) would not bother hanging up that poster, when I offered to buy it he said, "No. I'll hang on to it. It might be worth something."Daniel Jackson wrote:At least they have a poster in the window. Worse LCS ever. I only went to this guy because he's two miles from my house. But the dude is only open two days a week. Will only support Marvel and DC.BruceReville wrote:@$$holejedimarley wrote:My 'Former' LCS (i'm now going 25 miles out of my way for a shop that will support Valiant) would not bother hanging up that poster, when I offered to buy it he said, "No. I'll hang on to it. I like honest ones. At least he let you KNOW his true colors. Vs. lying to you, "Gee. I never got one. But look! I had to BUY this one for... uh... $50. So, I'll let you have it for.... $75?"BruceReville wrote:Corporate A$$hole!jedimarley wrote:Worse LCS ever. I only went to this guy because he's two miles from my house. Wow, what a jerk, indeed? However, at least he is honest (reminds me of a quote I saw on a Type O Negative album years back: "Better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you aren't.") In this case, I certainly wouldn't support the dude, either.

Re: Previews
Sounds like the places around here. Sure, they might sometimes get some Image and Dark Horse, and maybe some VERY local books, but on the whole, they only give support to DC and Marvel. Then, they wonder why the market is dying. When you hitch your horses to Dodo birds, you shouldn't ask why they just went extinct.jedimarley wrote:Worse LCS ever. Re: Previews
My LCS owner likes Valiant but is less than optimistic mainly due to how other relaunches have been going. Also at his shop customer interest has been very minimum in the news of Valiant returning.xodacia81 wrote:Sounds like the places around here. Re: Previews
That is because it was such a lowkey return, until very recently, and because those who do remember it, in the "mainstream" are often put in mind of the bubble burst of the 90's and how Valiant was seen as being at the center of it all.BruceReville wrote:My LCS owner likes Valiant but is less than optimistic mainly due to how other relaunches have been going. Re: Previews
I think that's going to be the biggest hurdle for Valiant. People are going to be thinking about what happened in the past and look at the Dark Key line and it's going to make it very hard for them to see past it. As long as Valiant starts slow and has enough capital to keep it afloat, I'm pretty sure most of the nay-sayers will come around. One thing to consider is that Dark Horse didn't have as much to lose with a failure of the Gold Key line. Valiant is in a completely different boat, so I believe they'll be a million time more motivated to make this work.xodacia81 wrote:That is because it was such a lowkey return, until very recently, and because those who do remember it, in the "mainstream" are often put in mind of the bubble burst of the 90's and how Valiant was seen as being at the center of it all.BruceReville wrote:My LCS owner likes Valiant but is less than optimistic mainly due to how other relaunches have been going. Re: Previews
By December we should know how well the new Valiant will do. Main concern for me is staying of schedule.

Re: Previews
I'd actually say you'd need a full year to really feel comfortable that Valiant is here to stay. I honestly don't think staying on schedule will be an issue with the giant head start they have. Not to mention, they don't seem to be overwhelming themselves with titles off the bat.BruceReville wrote:By December we should know how well the new Valiant will do.
