Interesting posts from VEI on Facebook
I know someone posted some of the more interesting things that VEI has written on Twitter, but they've been saying quite a few cool things on Facebook comments that I thought I'd share with you non-Facebook people.
****ADDED 8/16/2011****
Nothing super-duper excited, but a couple confirmations and what-not that I thought were worth adding....
So yeah... it's looking good to me. I am really happy with the fact that VEI is out there letting their presence be known and, better yet, answering questions that people have.
Any chance of more hardcover collections next year? Been reading the Harbinger one and it's wonderful.
Valiant wrote:Yes, new reprints will be available next year
Hey what ever happened to Harbinger Movie or other movie prospects?
Valiant wrote:Movie development is a long process but Harbinger continues to progress well, as do other Valiant movies. Our focus now, however, is squarely on publishing new comics
This brought on a question of why they needed a redesign/reboot/retool... and here's a couple of responses from Valiant about it (mostly responding to the complaints about it being a reboot...)Valiant wrote:Very cool Harbinger character designs being discussed in the office today
Valiant wrote:We're going to have to update the designs. The world has changed since the 90s and Valiant is about being cutting edge, doing what the others guys can't, won't or are too slow to do. We intend to continue the Valiant tradition and reflect today's world. The Valiant Universe and the Valiant characters will be the same ones you know and love though. This is closer to Ultimate Marvel or Batman Begins.
Valiant wrote:Everyone in the office loves the Valiant Universe and the Valiant characters. What you'll see in 2012 will reflect that. We have no intent of changing them to take away who they are. The new books won't be X-O Manowar done over or done wrong (VH2), it will be X-O Manowar done right. Just like he was in the early Valiant books.

Archer & Armstrong - Eternal Warrior need to come back!!!
Valiant wrote:Working hard on them!
I just want to know if X-O is coming back. My first job was working in a comic book store in the early 90s and X-O Manowar quickly became a huge part of my life.
Valiant wrote:X-O Manowar is a character we are working hard to bring back strong.
So, a little hint on launch title possibilities...If Valiant's rebooting Is Quantum and Woody returning With them, If Not, who Owns, and No one, How do we Make them return
Valiant wrote:Quantum & Woody is returning
Any idea how you're going to handle "future" Valiant now that Magnus isn't a part of it? Are Rai and company staying in the 4000AD area, coming to the present, or somewhere in between?
Valiant wrote:Lots of discussions about this at the office. Some exciting possibilities are being explored but we have not made a final decision just yet. What would you like to see?

All very well and good, but why isn't there someone from VEI posting such updates here on VF.com? The dire-hard Valiant fans are right here and have been since 2004.
I followed Greg's lead and deleted my Facebook account two weeks ago and have no intention of creating a new one. Makes sense to me that if they want to maintain interest they'd have a much larger presence here.

I think that you are missing the fact that one of the new Valiant owners used to be a very prominent board member here and used to post quite often. Once the purchase of the Valiant properties was made, that board member went silent and that has rubbed many a remaining board member raw for years and continues to do so.Jay Tomio wrote:Idea of a fan board needing official participation kind of kills the idea of a fan board. No way in hell there is a potentially much larger presence here, and if they wanted to build a community they'd be better of making an official one or making an existing one an official one.
The ability to reach hundreds of unique people, maybe single digits 4 figures is not entirely irrelevant in dwindling medium, but definitely not a focus to anything that has money behind it. No way someone I'm actually paying is going to post at a fan messageboard that isn't clocking serious figures.
We are fans because we will post about it here as it hits traditional and larger news outlets.
Would it be nice and could it happen? Sure, absolutely, but it isn't something that makes so much business sense that it's dumb that it isn't happening.
I do agree that Facebook is the way to go for an online presence. As much as I dislike it, I see the need for it. If I am not mistaken, you can make a face book point of presence without having any real information about yourself in the account. This is no different than creating another account on 'another message board' so that you may interact with persons on that message board. Valiant's new message board is on Facebook, that is all. Maybe there is some legal schmegal reason for not being on here as much. Personally, I would have appreciate more of a presence on 'here'. BUT, all is forgiven and I am throwing in all my chips behind them as from what I recently witnessed... things are in hand and looking great.
I am not sure how long it was active but the VEI site had a message board which was essentially if not wholly a mirror image of this message board. There was not much VEI interaction on their as well but then again, they did not have great news like the recent turn of events either.
Would it be nice to have something posted here ? Yes. This is a fantastic thread for those who are not doing Facebook and as a Fan Site, it might even be our duty to post about what goes on over there, ensuring board members 'here' are in the know. Lord knows we post about what is going on with other sites and that is 'good'. Do you want to have a place to go and see Valiant news posted by those "really in the know" ? Go to Facebook. Things change and once "I" for example, accept that, step out of the 90s and look to a future of great Valiant Comics it will be easier to enjoy. Individual mileage may vary.

I get you, David as do others on here. Of course, there will obviously be some who do not understand and will never understand. Dems da ways it is. There is nothing wrong with feeling the way you do. The community remains intact. But like I said, things look like they are on the right track with what I heard from Dinesh and Fred Pierce. I came away from that get together feeling the best I have felt in years about Valiant Comics. Even though you have deleted your Facebook account, maybe you can do like I intend to do and create an account for Valiant interactions only.david_albuq wrote:All very well and good, but why isn't there someone from VEI posting such updates here on VF.com? You want to wave the valiant bannor! Wicked awsome!
So do I.
I agree with what you and Knighht are saying ~ but I am not sitting on the fence.
THis is an open forum ~ some USA amdment of rights ~ or constitution ~ freedom of speach (don't bother correcting me). Greg has mangaged this site as the moderaters have with this in mind.
But I really want Valiant / Dino to post here more often (I know thye still read it). I am guessing Dino wants to activily post here, but doesn't.
Even now with release in 2012 as a community we just shug our sholders.
If I was Dino, I would have never posted here again. So much negativity. TO a fan who brought the rights ~negativity from fellow fans. (Not naming anyone because I cannot ~ as in ~ I cannot remember or care to recall).
I am not Dinos friend, well maybe an internet friends as we have correspondance via PM's.
REMEMBER they are trying to build a new company. Up their company name, not this fan site.
I am note being rude to this fan site I love it.
But if they promote Valiant, people will arrive here. If they promote this fan site, people will arrive here ~( but not their face book page ~ or 'LIKE' valiant and get fresh updates).
I am not trying to provoke an arguement with Jay T. Seriously. I am not trrying to rally the troops to support Valiant (as most of you are feed up and not excited).
I am excited and trying to support Valiant and this site. In the next year (I have no inside info) we will all be happy active community with heaps more members.
We have all been frustrated about the relaunch of valiant. Maybe my post is awell but so have been others.

I have to say, first of all, that the "announcement" that Harbinger isn't dead in the water was the best post I read. It's such a great story and it really feels like it was written to be a movie.
As for all the discussions of whether or not VEI, Dino, etc. should post here... I could go either way. I agree with Phantom that the reason they probably don't is because, when they did, this room got a little harsh. I'm not sure what kind of restrictions they have on themselves, so maybe Dino is afraid of saying too much if he comes on here. These are all just guesses, but I'm glad that at least they are answering questions somewhere (even if only on Facebook and Twitter). I also agree that they will be getting more bang for their buck talking in those formats than on here. The biggest reason? We're already fans, we're probably buying the new comics (I know I am) no matter what, and there's almost always going to be someone on here to pass the news along to the others.
Anyways, I'm glad everyone enjoyed the posts and if I see any more, I'll add them to the list.

Aw man, just when you think you have those bad feelings and bad memories tamped down, ya know ? I mean, I would not expect the guy to fall off the face of the earth but after all that crap (most of it still unresolved), I would think that he would travel in different circles.betterthanezra wrote:Yes I'm fairly CERTAIN that's the Same dude.400yrs wrote:Is the Justin Ehart posting on facebook the Justin from here? I'm not sure a psychopath (clinically speaking, and no, it's not a metaphor) actually has the capacity to see themselves as others do.Knightt wrote:Aw man, just when you think you have those bad feelings and bad memories tamped down, ya know ? It's probably "all good" in his head.
Literally, eternal sunshine in a spotless mind.
What a wonderful world.

Thanks, Scott. I apparently didn't know much of the background behind this. I sometimes come and go around here and missed these exchanges. It just seems to me that I've seen new people popping up here and it would make sense for VEI to be an active poster around here instead of the random pop-ins.Knightt wrote:I get you, David as do others on here. The more press that VEI gets with the new launch the more people will Google "Valiant" and find this message board.
