I was hoping a few more would be released before it was all said and done.

Magnus #4 and Samson #3 will be released. It appears the Magnus TPB will also be released. Nothing other than that. This according to TFAW (Things From Another World).kevinbastos wrote:So, ARE these never coming out? Last two issues next month? No one knows? Anyone? Bueller?
Amazon has a Volume 3 Archive for Dr. Spektor available for pre-sale. TFAW does not.

I know there is some sort of relationship between TFAW and Dark Horse. Anyone know exactly what it is ?

A couple things to remember here:
There are likely going to be NO solicitations for the remaining titles that will be published (assuming there are any). They were already solicited a long time ago and, so far, Dark Horse has not re-solicited a single late Gold Key title. They've simply readjusted the shipping dates online (usually several times) and then shipped them. So no Gold Key books appearing in the August solicitations doesn't really mean much.
And since all we have to go by is Jay Jay's post on the cancelation (I've seen nothing by Dark Horse on it and no reporting independent of Jay Jay's statement on it) you have to take the whole of it:
Unfortunately, Dark Horse has cancelled the books. They are doing a few more, I think to finish out enough issue to do trade PB, but because of the high price of the license from Classic Media, dropping sales figures as well as increasing interference from Classic Media into the content of the comics, Dark Horse decided to drop the books. They still like Jim and want to work with him on some things. He’s still very disappointed. But Classic Media is asking too much for too little and they’ve caused problems as well.
So they may print enough to fill out current plot lines so they can put them in trades. If they did that (which would be smart if they're trying to recoup the money) they'd need to keep the license for the new material for just a little longer but, again, until we hear from Dark Horse any thing's possible.
Another thing to remember is that the quote from Jay jay only seems to be in regards to the new material, not the reprints. The archives have been going on for almost a decade, so obviously those have worked out for DH. Since another company has published new material with the Gold Key characters (the Magnus graphic novel from a few years back) or tried to acquire the rights to them (like VEI did a couple years ago) it's safe to say those are separate from the reprint rights to the old stuff.
