Did Valiant really have mail-order subscriptions?

I did a search on the forum and only found a Nintendo-related ad.

There's ads in the Shooter era books for subscriptions to the Valiant Heroes books.

Did these really happen? Did anyone have one? How long did the subscriptions go? Were they there the whole time and I just never noticed the ads?

Did they come bagged, or in an envelope? All at once or separate?

As far back as I remember this was only ever a direct market sales. Again, I t is only from my memory. Good times back then.

I do remember seeing the subscription options in my early Magnus and Harby books. Not sure if anyone ever signed up. I didn't.

No idea how they worked or if they worked.

I think they added Harbinger and Rai later.
