Dr. Solar #6

Post by StarBrand »

Just finished reading Dr. Solar #6. I really enjoyed the first story which is in ongoing continuity. However, the origin story... staggering. Shooter's new Dr. Solar origin he wrote for this line is shaping up to be perhaps the best comic book story I've ever read.

Agreed, it's a fine continuation of issue #5.

Normally, I couldn't care less about comic books being late, but as much as I've enjoyed Turok #2 & Dr. Solar #6, I'm mildly annoyed over the possibility (Or should I say fact?) that I might have to wait 2-4 months for another issue of either title.

Hopefully no more than two months. :| Dr Solar has actually been coming out at a rate of better than bi-monthly since issue 1.

Quick read

Read them both last night. Very good. Struck by the realism in both SOLAR stories. Loved the realism in it. Brought out the best in the old Solar - the humanism. So much better than the beating up huge villains bits in 2-4. Dangit. I may be hooked again.

I sort of wish that when Gayle asked who he was he replied "Have you ever read 'Watchmen'? It's like that, except I'm from the 1950's".

I am patiently waiting for the lead story to actually go somewhere, and be on a grander scope that what it is--things are moving soooooo slow. It's solid though--I am not disappointed, but waiting for it to get bigger. I guess my expectations are kind of high. Though, when I think of the Solar stories from Valiant, I immediately think of the Alpha and Omega story, and not the lead stories, so perhaps it will be the same in this case. That said...

The origin story is shaping up to be absolutely f'ing brilliant. I agree that it is potentially going to be one of the best comic stories I have ever read. The art is great, too!

Finally got mine in the mail. I was blown away by this issue. Not only is the origin story as good as the best of early Valiant, the main story is picking up traction as well. Just wish the shipping schedule would improve.

I really enjoyed the part out on Gail's front steps.

The thoughts before he got to her house were great too.
