Like I said and like I was told, the work on the line continues. Dude that popped off was just a disgruntled employee.

The guy would make a great politician. I read the article and really what I got was alot of dance out of it and this one line in particular struck me odd.
We had tried to launch superhero projects before without getting any notice in the past, and Jim ensured that we'd get noticed.
1) Their superhero line was well received when it was released and didn't go without notice (CGW).
2) Shooter has gotten initial interest in the Dark Key titles when it was first released.
3) What killed CGW was the awkward release schedule and lateness of some books - right now Dark Key is falling into the same trap with its "untimeliness" as he kept repeating, but never touch WHY the "untimeliness" was happening.
And the one aspect of the Dark Key line he mentions as making money is the other projects under the Classic Media deal (The Reprint TPBs/HCs) - then dancing around if the new releases are making money or not.
I am not saying the former employer is right - but I also am not buying his story 100% either - only time will tell. I finally got all the issues and so far I like what I read and hope to continue on.

- I would buy anything about these characters, sadly.

I've always said the new line and the reprints go hand in hand, and that's why they won't pull the plug so quickly. They'll wait and get some trades out so that the new line and reprint books can feed into each other.400yrs wrote:It sounds like Dark Horse Shooter books are there to ride the back of the reprint crap.
and seriously 'crap'? It may not be your taste, but there's some certified classic material there that many are happy is finally being put back into print.

That would make alot of sense and would explain why they put those reprints in the back of the new #1 issues.Ryan wrote: I've always said the new line and the reprints go hand in hand, and that's why they won't pull the plug so quickly. I tend to refer to most old stuff as crap without thinking about it. My bad. Definitely not my taste though.Ryan wrote: and seriously 'crap'? It may not be your taste, but there's some certified classic material there that many are happy is finally being put back into print.
My interest was with the new books. To know that they could possibly be taking a back seat to reprints, well..... that's a bummer. I saw a copy of Solar #5 on the shelf and thought about getting it since it has been getting good reviews (even though I just sold off all my Dark Key stuff). I picked it up and thought, "Why? Who the hell knows when a new issue will come out." I put it back on the shelf. I hope the new stuff isn't taking a back seat to reprints.

It's good he addresses the problems (for example the delays) and is aiming to take care of them. Hope it works out.

As delayed as these books have been, Jim might actually have the time to edit these books.
Anyway, thought Mike represented well in the interview and addressed the issue with the delays about as well as he could. To me, since Solar #10 is the only DK book solicited for July and DH appears to be withholding new solicits for Turok and Mags for now, it seems they are attempting to correct the problem.
