Praxis was a short lived company based in Pretoria, South Africa. Officially launched at SDCC '06, Praxis folded in 2008 because their primary investor withdrew at the beginning of the financial turmoil of that time. Unlike many of our DUs, because of the timeframe in which Praxis operated, there are some internet resources available. They had a myspace page and announced the ceasing of publication on a myspace blog (link: http://www.myspace.com/praxiscomics/blog/442119688 ) and the Praxis website is still active at www.praxiscomics.com

I am interested in this company because it launched at SDCC '06 and I was there. Also of note - Praxis was the name of the moon of Qo'noS (Kronos, the Klingon homeworld) that exploded in Star Trek VI.

Here's the checklist as far as I know:

Andrea D 1, 2, 3
Calanrock 1
Scarlett's Curse 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, TPB
Sollitaria 1, 2, TPB

Several projects were scheduled to be published but I have not found any evidence that these have seen print. These projects include Gate of the East Wind, the Inquisitor and Climate Witness, a joint venture with the World Wildlife Federation about global warming.

Cool, cheers

I wonder how many similar companies have existed in the last twenty years or so.
I mean the ones who dont wuite have what it takes, both in idea or creativity, but give it a shot anyway, just to find out like all the others that it's a tough industry to make it in :/

Hell I have been trying to be one of those small universes for a few years now - problem is currently locally there are no artists (I can't draw 2 stick figures walking) and I have dealt with 2 artists online and...

1) One took my money and ran - haven't heard crap since - out $500.00

2) Another provided pin-up sketches and was doing well then all of the sudden he left me hanging with 2 sketches due and nothing but excuses - out $175.00

3) Did find one guy in town that did decent sequential art and we were in process of getting things started when unfortunately he died in a car crash.

After that last one I have been cold on the idea, but recently I am wanting to get back into it.

I added another issue to the checklist, Calanrock 1.

I also added a paragraph about some of the projects that were announced and/or solicited and I haven't found any evidence that they were actually published. It is not a comprehensive list of abandoned projects; just the ones that seem most likely to have been printed and I haven't turned them up yet.
