The Liberty Project review

Post by sbcomics »

I reviewed The Liberty Project, which was part of the Eclipse line, over at my blog as part of my 2,011 comics in 2011 project.

I'd recommend this for sure, especially if you can turn up the issues or trade cheap. Even cover price for the trade is a good deal, at $11.95 for 9 issues. There are only 8 Eclipse issues plus one special, and the characters turned up one more time, in TeenAgents #3 from Topps (which I haven't read yet).

Anyone else read this one? What do you think?

GREAT blog, Matt... I posted the following:

"I've been collecting Eclipse Comics for a while. I am not absolutely sure if I have 'these books' or not but after this great review, I am very eager to read them.

This is my first blog post and I cannot think of a better place in which to post. GREAT job on a GREAT blog, Matt !!!!"

Wow, my first EVER blog post !!!

I really appreciate your interest and blogging about Dead Universes books.

Quick question... the 2011 Project. What books are the majority of your 2011 Project that you intend to read, DU books or mainstream books ?

And another, what made you decide to start blogging about Dead Universe books, Matt ?

Hmm.... not sure what I'll read the most of, but I plan on reading all the Valiants as part of this, or at least all I can find (still missing a few).

I rounded up a good chunk of Ultraverse, so I'll include some of those, too.

Beyond that it'll probably be what I have handy or what I'm in the mood for. Tomorrow I'm going to put up something on "Noble Causes" from Image.

I think I started thinking about adding Dead Universe books to the 2,011 in 2011 project largely because I figured I could get a lot of them cheaply and then read them in a row :) There are lots of books I've wanted to read and haven't gotten around to for whatever reason; I figured this was as good of an excuse as any. I always kind of enjoy the off-brand universe stuff, so seemed like it could be fun.

I collected all the Defiant back in the day, but haven't read them in years. I never got more than a handful of the Broadway books, so, this will be a good opportunity to read them all (if I can find 'em).

That was probably a more long-winded answer than you really needed. :)

This is many times a HUGE draw to the DU... where else can you pick entire runs so cheaply ? As depluto has said in the past, "The <insert DU here> is dead. It's cheap. It's ours." (well I am sure it was not said exactly like that but 'something' like that)

No, this is the EXACT kind of answer I was looking for and hope that we continue to see from you and everyone who participates here. This is all food for thought and gives us something to read and think about. I really like hearing just what it is that draws people to DU books. There was a time when I was second guessing myself on DUs. I mean, 'WHY' was I buying these cheap books that nobody wants, they are obviously not worth anything and 'IF' they were any good they would still be in print, etc etc. But that argument did not last very long with myself because it did not change the fact that I really enjoy these books... and if they are cheap ? BONUS !!!

Yay me.
