Ugh...ending of X-O...

Well, I finished reading my shilled copies of X-O Manowar. Man, the ending is lame, lame, lame.

Dare I talk about it? For those who haven't read it, here's a spoiler warning...

Oh, my God, visions of Dallas and Bobby in the shower...all a dream? Oh, come on! That was the crappiest series ending they could have come up with! I guess they wanted to "restart" the Valiant universe again by that point. But geez, if they had given the readers what we wanted (weaving continuity like Shooter did), they wouldn't have had to keep "re-inventing" Valiant.

Oh, well, at least I have the whole run, now, and I'll trade and sell off my extras next month.

Ah, X-O, you had such potential...

i had the same feeling,..i got so into the book (it did gradually get worse)...but the end seemed like the cheapest, easiest way to think up way of ending it....it was just a way to keep him around and make a different begining for the acclaim book....buch of story capitalist.

I emailed Bob Layton with some questions, and he was REALLY COOL! He told me that the last issue was a little bit of "revenge," and especially to make sure they didn't screw with the character any further than they already had. And he said to me, "sorry about that."

And wow, folks, he was treated like crap--Acclaim pretty much removed him from any power but continued to pay him and use his name as Editor in Chief, even though he was just sitting there. Birthquake and Deathmate and all of that mess wasn't his fault, but was forced on him. I have a whole new opinion of Bob Layton after having talked to him.

Initially I thought this when I read it the first time.

Then I went and read everything starting from Birthquake, all the way to that point. Then I read #68 again.

It looked much, much, MUCH better after that.
