Question about Ultimate Spider-man

Post by DawgPhan »

Anyone want to clue me in on the different versions of Ultimate spider-man #1? Is it a reprint if it doesnt say direct edition in the little price box? Just trying to figure out if I got a good deal or not. :thumb:

Theres like 3 known versions I know

1 is the direct edition
2nd one is Free comic book day ... This is written on top of the comic
ohhh
and the third one is from KB Store edition which also does not show the words "Direct Edition" in the upc box

Assuming we're talking about the red cover version, it's one of the most repritned and varied books ever printed. The big thing to look for is the ads. There are KB Toy, Thermos, Free Comic Book Day, and it seems like there's one more that I can't come up with the name of right now. The FCBD is pretty obvious, the KB has a KB ad on the back (I think) and the Thermos version has a Thermos ad on the back.

Hope this helps!
Doug

so this must be the kay-bee edition or atleast a reprint since it doesnt say direct edition in the price box

The guy is selling a ton of racing stuff and then this, but his id is daredevil so I didnt know what to think. I thought that I might have stumbled on the deal of the year, but glad I looked into to it a little bit.. :thumb:

I'm pretty sure it is. I saw a KB version in my LCS. It looked identical. I think the "direct edition" is the only difference.

Personally, I wouldn't bid on auctions by this guy, because this lot is confusing. He shows the comic and then says that the auction is for 19 comics. You might get 19 of the FCB day version ?!?

The KB Toys edition says so on the inside front cover.

Yeah, but on the cover and with the listing, you can only see the cover :thumb:

Well, YES, but I thought we'd cleared up that confusion already. ;) That was just an 'FYI' in case someone had one on hand. :)
