Will VEI be making anymore hardcovers?

Post by drmirage »

Does anyone know if VEI will be making anymore hardcovers.

I've finally finished reading all three AA, X-O and Harbinger.

So whats next?

Hoping someone else will fill in. I believe the people attending SDCC learned about this and that the current plans do not include any more hardcovers.

Mini-series, about 4 of them. 4 to 6 issues in length focusing on a different character and establishing a shared universe. Publishing dates were discussed but they are volatile things that can be pushed back easily.

Wow, ok thats the first I have heard of this. Great! Now if they would hire Barry Windsor Smith I could get back into some Archer and Armstrong!

I don't get VEI, I have bought every product they have made, all very nice. They are killing themselves with the silent treatment towards the fans. It's ok if they don't have the cash or know how to move ahead. Why not just come out and say, this is where we are at, this where we are trying to go and this is whats going on now. If they did that once every couple of months, I think folks could deal with it. All the secrecy puts me off, I'll get what ever comes out, I just don't like the way they treat the fans. They are simply killing off what could have been their best asset, those of us that already love the characters.

There's got to be more to the story. Look at all the high-profile people that have come and gone that we know of (Jim Shooter, Bill Jemas) and Valiant alums who don't have good things to say about VEI (Bob Layton, Mike Leeke, Jay Jay Jackson).

There's a pattern here in VEI's brief history.

That would be awesome for sure, but the way Barry has been, I rather doubt it will happen.

From what we were told new books would be the next thing in print. I do think, down the road, they will re-print just about everything they can.

Shadowman was the next HC to be released. But they did not feel the need to do it. They accomplished their goals for the HCs with theh 3 they put out.

I didn't realize JayJay had been involved with them.

I'm sure it's tough and I know there are two sides to everything, but everyday those guys show up for work knowing that there are fans out here that love the product(the characters) they purchased. All they need to due is update the website they paid somebody to make. As a fan I don't need to know specifics, just whats going on, and if there isn't anything going on, what they hope to have happen. It would take 20 minutes tops every month or two to show some respect to their customers. Every other type of business in the world would kill to have its customers putting up fan pages for its products. Other industries work hard to build the loyalty that they have been given. I just can't get my head around buying what they bought only to essentially devalue it by *SQUEE* off the few people that cared. Its like buying a new car then taking a sledge hammer to it.

JayJay didn't work with VEI but she's a close friend of Shooter. She posted some stuff on the VCS board a while ago.

To be fair, Jemas had a chance to run a gigantic publishing company, a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he was only ever, to my knowledge, a consultant with VEI. As for Shooter, he's packed his bags up more times than a QB has woken up in a new bed. Layton & Leeke I can't speak to. As for "JJ"? I wouldn't trust anything "the bottle" has to say, given it's always about 110 proof.

It's precisely what you imagine it is and I make no bones about it.

ok, and you have personal knowledge of this?

Not really trying to start a fight, but I have met Jay Jay, and she is a very nice person, so something sounding like an accusation like this bothers me a bit unless you know it personally to be 100% accurate.
