Re: Dark Horse November solicitation
The books are on a 6 week cycle. #1, #2 and #3 were solicited for August, September and October so November is probably a skip month. I'm sure #4 will be in the first half of December.orbitalshift wrote:Can't wait for these, though I wonder why no Magnus.

Dark Horse books usually feel alot thicker than your usual comic. It's because of the paper stock and more ad pages. I only expect 22 story pages. Every single time I bought a copy of Star Wars Legacy, I swore it had to be more than 22 story pages because it felt big, but I always counted and it never was.Ryan wrote:I wonder why they're 40 pages? The first 2 only had 22 pgs of story + reprint. More ads or what?

- I would buy anything about these characters, sadly.

ah, that kinda sucks. Lets hope for some back up features, a letter column, or at least a Shooter column400yrs wrote:Dark Horse books usually feel alot thicker than your usual comic. Not sure, but what a book that would be.Elveen wrote:You are correct. The covers are stunning. How long would it take for the artist to do an entire comic book with those visuals?Daniel Jackson wrote:Man, those covers are terrific. I hope they tweak the inside art a bit from what we've been seeing on Solar.

I talked to Raymond Swanland at SDCC for a bit. He said that one of his covers takes 30 hours or so, so you can extrapolate from there. 10 weeks? 20 weeks? 30 weeks?Elveen wrote:You are correct. 30 hours x 22 pages/issue = 660 hours/issue or 27.5 days/issueDr. Solar wrote:I talked to Raymond Swanland at SDCC for a bit. Since Dark Horse is on 6 week cycle, he's got plenty of time. Just need to work 16 hr days, every day. I would pay an extra $1 per issue.

In San Diego, I ended up in a gallery downtown that was showing a lot of high end comic original art, they had quite a few Alex Ross paintings. I was surprised at how simple his work really is, when you see it up close. He uses very simple brushwork and color selection, he just does it incredibly well.JCVaughn wrote:Doug Braithwaite did the pencils, not Alex. Alex is actually a very fast painter once it's to that stage.superman-prime wrote:so how did alex ross finish the mini Justice for DC which was all painted
